Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 13
In the complete silence of the grove, interrupted only by the soft sounds of the rain, that noise was startling and frightening. The girls turned their heads in all directions, trying to peer through the darkness and find the source of the disruption. The gloom around them was producing terrifying shadows and they moved closer, clutching to each other’s arms.
Suddenly, they heard loud footsteps rapidly moving towards them and they both gasped in panic. Relief washed all over Elizabeth when she saw heavy-breathing Alicia appearing in front of them.
“Alicia,” Elizabeth uttered through her clenched teeth, “You gave us a fright. What are doing running around at midnight and scaring innocent people?”
“Innocent, my apron,” Alicia murmured with a grin, leaning on the tree and trying to regain breath, “I need to talk to you, Bette…alone. It’s very, very important.”
Without giving Elizabeth time to think or to answer she pulled her away, hastily apologizing to Christina. Elizabeth gave Christina a quick look and whispered, “I’m sorry, I’ll be back as soon as possible,” as she was dragged away by Alicia to a safe distance.
“What is so important, Alicia?” Elizabeth asked sternly, really upset at her maid’s behavior.
“Sorry if I interrupted your intimate moment with the love of your life but it’s a matter of life and death to me,” Alicia replied, sounding really nervous and sincere.
“What is it, Alicia,” Elizabeth was genuinely concerned now, “You’ve been acting really weird today…are you sick?”
“No, it’s not me,” Alicia said, getting more agitated, “I just…um…I received some news that my…uh…aunt is dying and I have to leave right away. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, but I couldn’t leave without saying goodbye first. You’ve become a very good friend and you are the best lady of the house any maid could have.”
Alicia was talking really fast when she was all wound up and anxious. Elizabeth didn’t know what to say, so unexpected was this entire outburst. She was about to answer when they heard a shot and a barely audible cry, as if a beautiful bird was wounded in a middle of its flight. Elizabeth slowly turned her head towards the sound and her heart contracted with pain when she realized that it came from the area where Christina was waiting for her.

Hey B&TF, you know how much I love this story and I’m always waiting patiently for an update. Now with this revelation you’re going to have to hurry up and post soon because this is getting good by the second. Somehow I missed this story when you first posted so I have no idea of what is yet to come. So please, don’t leave us waiting too long! xx
OMG ! OMG ! OMG ! Great chapter !!!!!!! Can’t wait for more ! This is so exciting !
Finally Bette is here and she and Tina are meet. Alice is funny but thanks her for saving Bette. I still thinking that peoples try to kill Bette and Christina is Christina’s husban. Please post soon, thanks!
The blast of light where Elizabeth and Alicia were standing, was that someone being shot or the two of them disappearing into the future? Okay, I have lost my brain and can’t seem to find it.
I feel so silly because I got so weapped up in what was happening that my heart was pounding. I still am so impressed at your skill in weaving all of the threads together.
Once upon a time, a friend and I bought an antebellum house that was barely standing (It had a swimming pool on the property with antique mosaic tile we were interested in… crazy story… let’s just say we where young and had crazy ideas, lol)… Anyway! I wish I had paid more attention to the closets than that pool, LOL! I just love how you’ve brought Elizabeth through the closet to the twenty-first century!!! I’m all about a touch of elegance from the past within a wardrobe *wink*
i woke up this morning to the thought of the ride back when elizabeth was shot and remembered that its sunday and there should be another chapter… so imagine the smile when i saw that indeed there was one and longer that the last one too :) thank you for a great story cant wait for the next chapter…
LMAO at Sunkissed’s comment, ‘I wish I had paid more attention to the closets than that pool”… LOL! Anyway, B&TF, that was just WOW!!! That chapter was amazing! So tense and filled with the triggers of emotion, and angst, and fear, and confusion, and most of all anticipation for more!… I had thought that they would meet through the phone (with a 21st century’s Elizabeth) or through a telepathic experience.. But, no… Bette/Elizabeth is finally here! They are finally together, well at least into the same dimension. I’m guessing that it will take a little more time for them to properly meet, but I’m delighted already that we (you) had them see each other for the first time… Now, I’m really curious about this mystery about Elizabeth’s death, which was in fact Christina’s?… Anyhow, that was a great turn of events, certainly created by a brillant mind! Kuddos to you, and can’t wait for more! Thanks and PPS! K ;)
Wow amazing story, you got me all excited there, I can’t wait until they meet, and begin their journey together. Thanks T&B, you are truly great. Love
Yay, finally they have met.. sort of! Thanks for the update, can’t wait for more.
Wow B&TF, you are full of surprises. I thought that Bette and Tina would meet as people in present day, but you have Elizabeth time travelling forward. This is great and really intriguing. This is really a good story and I hope you update again soon!
