Chapter 16: Light, darkness, hot, cold…just like that (Alice almost finished with her story and Bette almost finished discovering new things)
Place: Porter mansion – garden
Year: 2005
(Previously) “I have no idea what he’s talking about. It’s not even English,” Alice said in frustration, “Do I even need to know this stuff? All I need to know is WHEN and WHERE to go and IF I’ll get there in one piece…and the hell with the HOW,” she said with resolve, deciding to copy the rest of the journal entries and think about it later.
‘The main problem is the outcome of the time travel. When someone goes back in time they might change the history because they already know what happened at a certain point of time. This predicament has been dubbed ‘The Matricide Paradox’ after the one particular question. What would happen if you went back in time and killed your mother? Would you cease to exist?’
‘Certainly, there are more questions to be faced while trying to attempt any time travel or time and space altering. After more data is collected, we will be able to determine a little more about this particular time portal. But for now, it’s still an enigma.’
“Well, I certainly don’t want to test this theory and kill my mother so I would cease to exist,” Alice chuckled, closing the journal and putting it back. “And besides, I really like Lenore, especially when she’s not around. Okay, so what do I know now? Hmm, let’s see…portal will be open on July 19 in two days, at midnight. So I know the time and the location…and it’s all I need. Laguna Beach, here I come…”
~~~~~~~~
Alice stopped reading from her notes and took a crumbled piece of pink paper out of her pocket, “You know how some people get all distracted or absentminded while talking on a phone?” she asked Tina. Tina nodded in reply and Alice continued, “Usually they draw pictures or write their names or do some other kind of doodling or just play with the pen in their hands…that’s what I do…well, our Professor is into drawing and he’s pretty good at it, I might add.”
“…or with her impossibly perfect and flawless image?”
Hahaha…that was a great question for Alice to ask Tina. Very well written update B&TF. I find myself pulled to this story like Tina felt pulled to the painting of Bette. Can’t wait for your next update.
Oh man,Bette went unconscious again!!! When will Tina and Bette finally meet face to face and could last longer than 1 min! lol… thanks for the great update, please post soon! :)
Is it Chapter 20 yet? Poor Elizabeth Porter, she is going to have a headache if she keeps passing out.
Hey B&TF ! Sorry for taking so long to comment on this chappie, but I only read it today. Anyways, it was very good. God, this story is entralling ! I can’t wait foe Bette and Tina to “properly meet” in the present. I have a feeling Tina is going to be a great ” guide ” for Bette in this new world. But there is something I don’t quite get : did they change the past ? … I guess I’m just going to have to wait and see, huh ? PPS !
i love your story, it´s great!!!!, hope you post soon y more often, i love it, just love it, congratulations. :)go on, pleaaasseeeeeeee
Very good question, Alicia!… But I guess it’s time for you to tell Tina the rest of the story while the beauty sleeps so that she can finally understand Bette’s constant fainting. Then they can start to get to know each other better and find out that whatever the dimension, they are meant for each other… And also, LMAO at the “Friends” reference!!! Love that show, and loved that episode… Chandler totally freaked out on Monica. But love is love, isn’t it? You can’t conceal it, can’t deny it, can’t run away from it… You just can’t. I can totally picture Alice and Tina laughing their asses off watching a “Friends” marathon! Thanks for this wonderful update, as usual! And PPS…
That was great and poor Bette just keep fainting!
