Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 59

Bette sighed. She hadn’t decided yet. She didn’t want to break her parents’ hearts again when she will have to disappear again. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. How are they?”

“Your mother threw herself into more charity work just to stay busy. Mr. Porter has been very attentive and supportive. He sold his shares of the company to his partners so he could stay home with Maxine,” Christina squeezed Bette’s hand again. “They spend most of the time with Katie. She’s pregnant.”

“She is?” Smile illuminated Bette’s face like sunrays on a cloudy day. She stifled a sob. Bette really missed her big sister. “I hope she’s doing well.”

“Yes, she is. Maxine has been very good to us both, providing the best doctors and as much support and care as she can manage.”

“Yes, my mother was always very kind and charitable person,” Bette looked at Christina who tried to shift her body. “Are you comfortable? Let me help.”

She moved a little ottoman closer to the sofa and lifted Christina’s feet, “Better?”

    “Yes, thank you.”

    “Where’s Daniel?”

“He’s at Katie’s, helping David build a nursery for their baby.”

“Oh, that’s great,” Bette smiled at Christina with affection.

“Yes, he’s been a wonderful husband and a friend.” Christina hesitated a little but decided to continue. “I told him about us. He knows everything and he’s okay.”

“He is?” Bette was really surprised. She could expect it from the men in the future but not in her time. “Daniel really is a remarkable man.”

“Yes, he is. He’s very special.”

Bette bit her lip and smiled shyly, “Well, speaking of someone special…while I was away I did meet someone.”

“Oh…” Christina looked at Bette for a moment. “And you fell in love?”

    “Yes.”

“So tell me everything…how did you meet her?” Christina smiled. “I presume it is her?”

“Yes, it’s a woman,” Bette hesitated and then asked, “Are you okay with this?”

“Am I okay that you fell in love with someone else? Oh my dear Elizabeth, of course I’m okay with that,” Christina took Bette’s hand and squeezed it gently. “I love you, Elizabeth and I do wish you’d meet someone special.”
