Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 60

Alice stopped in the morning with coffee and pastries from the Planet and a new theory.

“Tina, I know it’s hard for you to be apart from Bette not knowing what she’s doing and if…when she’s coming back. I had a thought. What if she’s trying to communicate with you from the past somehow?”

“What do you mean?” Tina decided to ignore the ‘if’ that Alice let slipped and concentrate on the positive.

Alice placed the food on the kitchen table and tasted her coffee, “Delicious. Here’s your latte, Tina.” Tina joined her at the table and Alice continued, “Remember how excited Bette got when we were watching “Frequency” about the unusual aurora borealis activities that let main characters to connect being 30 years apart?”

Tina nodded, smiling at the memory. For Bette the movie wasn’t just a science fiction. It hit close to home and she joked that if something happened and they will find themselves years apart, she’ll find the way to communicate through time and space.

Tina’s heart filled with hope, “Wait…are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

“If you are thinking that Bette might find a way to send you a message, than we are thinking the same thing…and that this delicious latte will get cold.”

“Oh,” Tina snapped out of making a list of things that Bette could’ve possibly done to communicate with her from 1886. She took a sip of her drink and sighed, “Oh, so good. Kit makes the best lattes in WeHo.”

“So Tina, what’s the next course of action?”

“Well, Bette is in her mansion so it’s only logical to assume it’s where she’ll leave something for me.” Tina felt rejuvenated by the coffee and by the sudden burst of hope and energy. “I can use this time scouting new locations for our second documentary series while searching the house for any clues. I just need to arrange it with the studio.”
