    Over me: chapter 3

    Over me: Chapter 3

By the time I’d got home that evening, sweaty and tired, I’d decided I wasn’t going to call Alice. Shane was right: there had been far too much heart-ache for everyone involved and I owed it to Lara to give our relationship 100%. Maybe my feelings for Alice were purely sexual and I just needed to direct that energy towards Lara instead. I couldn’t deny that Alice and I had been hot together; I mean the sex had been mind-blowing… but that wasn’t everything, right?  Lara and I had so much in common, we had fun and she really seemed to understand me (when I wasn’t behaving like an idiot anyway). The more I thought about it the more I started to convince myself: just because I still found Alice attractive didn’t mean I was still in love with her. Unfortunately that clarity of vision didn’t last long…

The next day I had the opportunity for a rare lie-in and I was determined to make it hard for Lara to get up and leave me.

“Just another five minutes.” I pleaded, nuzzling her neck and hitting the snooze button on the alarm again.

“Dana, I can’t!” Lara giggled, her expression turning intense as I began to kiss her seductively. I started to stroke her inner thigh with gentle fingers, delighting in the shudder than ran through her and was just about to lower my head to her nipple when the phone rang.

Lara reached over me and snagged it, leaving my lips in mid-air.

“Hi?”  She looked at me. “It’s for you.”

Who is it? I mouthed, as she handed it to me and dashed off to get ready for work. Damn.

“Dana Fairbanks, speaking.” I rather said, rather grumpily.

“Hi, Dana! This is Bob Wilson from “Sports Scene” magazine! I’d like to invite you to present an award at our annual Sports Journalism ceremony next week.”

I rubbed my eyes. “Next week?  That’s kind of short notice…”

The relentlessly chirpy voice interrupted. “I understand completely! It’s next Wednesday, 7.30pm at the Plaza in town. We’d love to have you there. You’d be presenting our Most Promising new writer award.”

    1. I felt a little bit bad for Dana in this chapter, but not too too much. lolShe may be right about Ethan. He seems like a bit of a jerk. I wonder what Alice is going to say to Dana. Thanks for the update!

    2. Love it!!This story just keeps getting more and morr interesting as it goes on. You write Dana’s character so well, I always thougth she was one of the more complex characters on the show but you’re doing amazingly. Keep it up :)

    3. I love how everybody was drunk at the awards ceremony. And yeah, Ethan’s an egotistical jerk and a half. The again, Dana’s not blameless. I guess I feel bad for poor Alice. Lara too, a little, since dana’s just basically stringing them both along at this point.
