    Part 9 – “The unexpected”

    Part 9 – The unexpected

Bette and Barbara were together in the kitchen preparing dinner while Angie sat at the breakfast nook working on the new jigsaw puzzle that Barbara had brought for her. When she’d asked what to buy for the five year old Bette had suggested the puzzle because it was something they could do together. She also asked that Barbara pick a theme that was age appropriate but also educational and geared towards helping Angie to build fine motor skills, language and cognitive skills. Barbara had chosen well by getting a world geography map puzzle. The puzzle had about 70 pieces so to make things easy they first needed to arrange the pieces by states and countries within each continent.

As Angie sorted through the pieces she described shapes and tried to make out the names of states and countries that were clearly written on the pieces. Barbara and Bette helped her to figure out on which continent they belonged so she could move them into the appropriate pile. Once they got those separated they could begin to assemble the world; one continent at a time.

Both women were highly educated and well-traveled so they entertained Angie with stories of what they knew about different states and countries and shared some of their own personal travel experiences to make the activity even more interactive. Bette told Angie of the time early in their relationship when she and Tina had visited India and China. She’d gotten sick in India and couldn’t eat the food so she’d lost 10 pounds and was pretty weak for most of the time. It wasn’t the best vacation but Angie got a kick out of the image of her mother carrying Bette all over Jaipur. Tina didn’t literally carry her but that’s how she made it sound. The trip to China was much better and it was from Nepal that they’d bought the Buddha and had it shipped home at great expense so they could put it in the backyard of their new home. Bette also pointed out that several pieces of framed reproductions that decorated her home were purchased from the Louvre in Paris during a tour of Europe. As they talked Bette learned quite a bit about Barbara’s varied interests that took her all over world during her senatorial career. The complexity of the woman standing before her never ceased to amaze. Although Bette and Barbara were lovers they had a strong foundation of friendship that would outlast the lust. They genuinely liked each other and enjoyed spending time in each other’s company. They’d had conversations and both agreed that if things didn’t work out romantically they would still be friends and could move on amicably.

    1. BAT,

I know that this is not a TiBette story and that Tina is really different from the very beginning but I could feel that she still cares for Bette and she is not just in a hurry to go back home bcoz of Angie but bcoz she also wanna be there for B.

Anyway, thanks for this wonderful story.

    2. Oh, welcome in this world Nicolas Shane.

I am happy everything went oke.

It is good to see Tina took the first flight home.

Still hoping for a tibette ending.

    3. Thanks for the posting. Glad the baby is here safe and Bette OK. Glad Tina is rushing back, please post soon with a Tibette moment or two!. Still hoping for a Tibette ending!!!

    4. Okay, after this one I feel like Barbara is here to stay? Glad that Nicolas Shane Porter is fine. And I feel like I missed a part of the story – where did Leigh go?

    5. Hey, Bat, very nice chapter. I feel like Sanetree that Barbara made a great connection with Boo and Bette in a way that will strengthen their bond. Tina has grown in a different way and still holds onto some negative stuff towards Bette and that will never do to recreate their special bond. Parts of her still seem to live in a box and Bette did stray so unless forgiveness is a strong part of being together, they are most probably over.
But it isn’t over until the fat lady sings so keep on doing what you are and I’ll keep on reading it however and wherever you take our characters.
      Thanks for the story.

    6. I agree with what Bumsue wrote. I normally don’t comment on each chapter I like to see where the story goes and ends. The story is so warm and loving the between sister and brother.

    7. I’m with Sanetree, what’ve happened with Bette and Leigh at the Observatory?
I think it’s natural for Tina to worry about Bette. They have a long history and a child together. She still cares for her.
I’m anxious to read about Angie and Nicholas meeting, and how Tina is going to react to know about Bette and Barbara’s relantionship.
A lot of good stuff, maybe some drama is coming up?
      Thanks for posting.

    8. Hi all,

Sorry I jumped forward in time. Nicolas was ready to be born and Leigh didn’t fit into this chapter but she’s still around. I will fill in the blanks in a future chapter. Thanks for reading and commenting.
