Chapter (21)
Tina opened her eyes in a state of confusion and took a moment to orient herself to her surroundings. When she realized she was wrapped securely in Bette’s arms she let out a deep sigh and just enjoyed the feeling for a moment.
She looked at the beautiful arms holding her, the beautiful mocha skin, the combination of strength and beauty, ‘Oh, how I love these arms.’ She turned ever so slowly to see the beauty holding her. Bette’s hair was a beautiful mass falling back onto the pillow and into her face. Tina carefully lifted her hand, moved a few strands of Bette’s hair away from her face and gazed upon Bette’s face. The face she tried so hard to forget. ‘How could I ever think I could forget? Those beautiful full lips, the beauty in every curve…in every …God, she looks so peaceful…so content…When was she last like this? It seems like forever.’
Tina instinctively lifted her hand and slowly traced the line of Bette’s jaw. She then slowly touched her cheek, and let her fingers trail to those lips…those fucking lips…Her hand stopped and Tina just stared as if in a daze. Bette began to stir. She opened her eyes and saw Tina looking at her and felt the hand on her lips. She smiled and in a voice barely audible she whispered.
“I think I’ve died and gone to heaven…”
Tina gave Bette a sweet smile.
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen you look so…I don’t know… at peace…so content…”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve held you like this…It feels so good…”
“I know… it does doesn’t it?”
Tina let out a sweet giggle and continued.
“But…what I meant before was that it’s been a long time since I’ve seen that look of contentment on your face…God Bette, how did we lose that?…When did we lose that feeling…that feeling that all we really needed was each other…?”
A tear fell slowly down Bette’s cheek and she closed her eyes and tried to compose her thoughts. After a moment she looked at Tina and spoke softly.
“T…I think…I think…the year before you stopped working was hard, harder than either of us realized. I think when I gave up the Gallery for more stability…I …I somehow thought I’d failed and I became obsessed with being successful at the CAC, which, in retrospect was pretty much a lark in itself.”

This story is such a breath of fresh air and I find myself hunting for an update. LOL I can’t wait for their first real date. PPS
D, you teased me. I thought for sure they were going to do the NASTY. LOL. But no, you pulled the reins in. I happy that they can talk, cry, and laugh together. The healing has begun. Great update.
:) This chapter made me happy. Heck, DnA, all of your chapters make me happy, even through the hard parts –like this one had, and even the ones that get me a bit teary. I’ll just say I’m happy when you post and leave it at that. Thanks for the chapter! :) (still happy!)
Terrific, a new post from DnA! I love them talking and getting things straightened out. I love Bette’s patience and the way she’s helping Tina really unselfishly.
The lines of communication have opened up. Now they can move forward and begin a new chapter in their lives.

There was such an air of love and emotional support through this chapter as Bette finally told Tina the complete truth about the events and feelings that lead up their break-up and the fallout.Tina need to hear this to understand their past and realize that they can have a future together.This was a cathartic discussion.I am so happy that they aren’t rushing anything as this is so precious to them that they need the time and space to come together completely.Now I can’t wait to find out more from Tina’s journal as her visible and emotional wounds heal.There will be scars but with the love and encouragement.Then the date…Oh I am so excited at the prospect.Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
