Something about high school made misbehavior so cool. As if getting in trouble was the ultimate measure of being popular.

Her first day of school after the accident, her first day in school, Angelica found out that she and Terry were some kind of celebrities, after all, how could anyone top that much damage? And it was already the next week and people were still talking about it, especially since Terry was due out of the hospital soon.

Angelica emerged from her school, ready to take the bus to The Planet, when she noticed her Aunt Alice standing nearby.

Alice Pieszecki-Baker. Forever the bane of the Kennard-Porter union’s existence. She was the aunt who was all-knowing and all-asking, and sometimes Angelica knew her parents just wanted to strangle the woman. Married to Angelica’s Uncle Nick, who with her cousin David were the only two men in her immediate family. Together, Alice and Nicholas Baker were in the running for the world’s most eccentric parents.

Slowly, reluctantly, Angelica made her way closer. "Aunt Alice."

"Hey." Alice grinned at her. "How was school today?"

"Do you care, or are you up to something?" Angelica asked suspiciously.

"Would I do that," Alice asked gaily, smiling at the girl. "Nice cast."

Angelica glanced down at her arm, her cast now decorated with different names and well wishes.

"How’s Victoria?" Alice asked, motioning for Angelica to get into the car.

"She’s getting better," Angelica answered, opening the car door.

Alice watched her, and then got inside her car.

Angelica glanced at Alice. "Where are we going?"

"The Gallery." Alice replied simply, knowing Angelica would fill in the blanks herself.

Angelica nodded. "What are we going to do–" She paused. She stared at Alice. "Today?"

    Alice nodded.

"But I have homework, and—" Angelica groaned. "The element of surprise gets me again!"

Of course. The weekend had passed with nary a lecture, just a lot of jokes and comments at Angelica’s expense. But, The Gallery? The Bette Porter Gallery? Her mom was really going to give her the lecture of her life in the gallery where she grew up?

    2. TD, Another poignant and expressive conversation between Angelica and Alice, her surrogate mother. There is such a dramatic sense of foreboding from Angelica that is so honest to her teenage sensibilities. As always, the world is such a terrible place to be and everyone is against her and out to get her. Even if it is it her best interests. Can’t wait to see what MaBe has in store as I know that it will be entertaining. Thank you for this pleasurable fantasy. Your Loyal Fan
