The Ladies Room…

Tina walked out of the stall and went over to the sink to wash her hands. She heard there was someone else in there. The stall opened, Tina looked in the mirror and saw Bette standing behind her.

Bette stopped dead in her tracks when she realized Tina was there. They both stood still, neither of them breaking eye contact.

Bette’s felt that warmth inside her when ever she looked at Tina. Tina also felt that same feeling; even when they were mad at each other.

Tina was the first to break eye contact. Neither of them knew what to stay or do. Tina turned the water off and dried her hands; Bette didn’t stop staring at Tina. Tina finally broke their awkward silence.

Tina: Hi

Bette: Hey.

Tina: How are you?

Bette: Been better, you?

Tina: Fine.

Once again there was an awkward silence. They just looked at each other. Tina realized she had been in the bathroom for awhile and had better get back to Angelica.

Tina: I better go.

Tina made her way over to the door.

Bette: Tina?

Tina turned towards Bette.

Bette: How is she?

Tina: She’s doing well; getting bigger.

Tina left the bathroom, Bette walked over to the sink to wash her hands. She felt that overwhelming rush of emotions come over her again and started to cry.

Tina slowly walked towards her table.

Of all the places, I can’t believe it. ..

Tina heard familiar voices nearby, not too far form where she was seated she saw Alice, Kit, and Shane sitting in a booth. She never talked to her old friends or made it to the planet for her usual morning coffee before work anymore. It was a little awkward because she met them through Bette.

Tina wished that that she could go over and talk to them like old times; she missed her friends…and Bette too. Henry and his parents were still laughing at old stories from when Henry was a kid. Tina took her seat next to Angelica.

Bette pulled herself together, fixed her make-up and walked out of the ladies room. While making her way back to her friends she saw that Tina was sitting at a table not too far away form hers. She saw Angelica.
