Planet Terror: The One Where Peggy Babysits
The women had to step carefully around the remains of Peggy’s friends, on their way into the hotel.
“Clean this up, will you…you know what to do.” Peggy said quietly to a large man who had suddenly appeared. He nodded carefully and touched Peggy’s arm briefly in sympathy. “My former butler’s nephew.” Peggy said loudly to the others. “A good boy…”
“A good servant boy, just like his father.” Bette snorted, shaking her head. Another man came to greet them. He looked nervous.
“Ms. Peabody…” He said shakily. “I trust that your trip went well.”
“Does it look as though it went well?” Peggy asked, indicating the mess around the helicopter. “What is it, Joshua? You look as though someone has walked across your grave, as the saying goes.”
“Well, its just…I mean, you needn’t worry…” He stammered.
“Needn’t worry about what, exactly?” Alice stepped forward, in front of Helena and Bette. “what’s going on?”
“Well, what I mean to say, is that there have been occurances…”
“What, like ghosts?” Helena asked incredulously. Joshua looked around in a panic at the circle of women advancing upon him.
“No.” He said finally. “There have been…disappearances.”
The group fell silent.
“From inside the hotel? From behind the electric fences and reinforced steel walls, and 24 hour round the clock heavily armed guards?” Peggy asked quietly. “There have been disappearances despite all that we have put in place?”
Joshua nodded, placing his hands out in front of him. “but none of the infected have found their way inside. And these individuals could have, perhaps, found their own way out.”
Everyone looked to Peggy again. Caiohme babbled curiously, providing the only commentary on the situation.
“all right, we’ll shut this group up in the Penthouse rooms with me.” Peggy said at last. “I want the rest of the hotel residents to stay put in their rooms. No wandering the hallways until we figure this thing out.”
Joshua nodded, but Bette spoke up quickly.
“You can’t just lock people up ‘for their own good’.” Bette said, visibly placing the proper quotations around her words. Peggy did not seem impressed, and rolled her eyes, waking ahead.

rofl @ funnyone … anyway … this story is excellent babe! Peggy is sarcastic as always, I’m intrigued, what are they doing with the people down below? where have catherine and dylan gone? and if they were taken, who took them? why is Bette watching ‘what the bleep’? (okay so I *know* the answer to that one) and why oh why does she fancy the woman from it … that’s not a good sign !!!! *wink*
This story is brilliant, especially because I just watched 28 Days Later for like the 500th time last night. So, they’re quarintining (sp?) the infected for what, to study them? See how long it takes for them to die? And how come Jaunty wasn’t quarintined too? Fucking rich people, they always have to do retarded stuff…anyways…good update…pps
My what a wonderful surprisse thought you bailed on us.
So good of you to throw we junkies a bone at long last. I think you’re a benevolent despot to your readers like Peggy is to her pool of infected. They seem to be immune, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I suppose the rich won’t mind the origin if a cure/vaccination can be found.
You know, reflecting on that last comment, perhaps the sarcasm is a bit heavy. I don’t really think you’re a despot of any kind. However, if YOU reflect on it, the reason I’m a junkie is that I enjoy your writing so much.
Hiya, I normally don’t comment. Im a silent reader, lol. However this story is brilliant. I only started reading last week, but got up to date in like 3 days… and yeah a did kind of read some chapters at work… shhhhhI lover dawn of the dead and them movies, eventho i always get bad dreams somehow. I also got a bad dream after reading your story, which is a good thing, coz it means that your story affects me and interests me…. Don’t worry is nothing to do with your writting, but eberytime i see of one those movies i have a dream/night mare about it… lol. Anyway i love it and keep up the good work. Thanks for taking the time to entertain us talentless (in writing) folk… lol
On further reflection, how come everybody just barges into the bedroom? Don’t any of them know how to knock?
I missed this story! Thanks for taking the time to produce this installment under such challenging circumstances. No worries about the editing; if there was a drop-off in quality, I failed to detect it. I’ve been hugely entertained by this superbly written, multi-layered, and action-packed story from the get-go; it would make a mighty fine TV series. I’m also impressed by your refusal to confine your characters to an attitude of robotic stoicism, which seems to be typical of the genre. Bette’s outburst in this chapter was a perfectly human reaction to an intolerable situation. Finally, your warts-and-all portrayal of Peggy P rocks!
