Tina walked into the darkened house and headed straight to her bedroom. She got undressed then went into the adjoining bathroom to run a bath. She was very tense. She needed to relax. She filled the tub with warm water and poured in the aromatherapy bath oils and lotions hoping that would do the trick.
As she lay in the bath she replayed the evening’s events in her head. Upon entering the Planet she had been shown to the VIP table and noticed several women walking up to Bette and giving her what looked like business cards, pieces of paper and folded napkins. A few sat in the empty seat next to Bette and chatted briefly then got up making room for the next one. Tina saw that Bette wasn’t giving them much notice and in fact seemed to be politely turning them away.
Alice, Dana, Valerie and a woman she didn’t recognize laughed and made comments that she couldn’t hear. From the gestures it appeared as if they were having a few laughs at Bette’s expense but she was taking it in stride laughing right along with them. Tina had never seen Bette so relaxed and carefree, obviously having a good time.
Bette was dressed in a red halter top. The color was very complementary with her skin tone. Bette’s hair was up with soft curls framing her face leaving her shoulders and sculpted back exposed. Tina always considered Bette a stunningly beautiful woman but tonight she looked exceptional. It was no wonder she was attracting so much attention. She’d certainly attracted Tina’s attention from the first day she’d laid eyes on her at the Art Walk.
As she got to know Bette Tina realized that she was even more beautiful on the inside. She’d never met anyone so unassuming and generous of heart. She was amazed at how quickly they had connected and become fast friends. She liked Bette. She cared about her and knew she wanted her to be a part of her life but she found herself doing what she always did in relationships; she was displaying passive aggressive behavior. No wonder Bette was confused about what Tina wanted from her.
In New York Tina had been a sensitive caring friend who offered emotional support but when they got back to Los Angeles she isolated herself and retreated into her own world. She completely shut everyone out then blamed them when they retreated from her. She realized that it was the reason she had lashed out at Bette and Valerie. She’d witnessed her friends laughing and having a good time when she walked into the Planet and she felt left out.

Glad Valerie called Tina out on things….Tina is stubborn but she is slowly figuring out what she wants but she can’t expect Bette to wait around while she gets her shit together ..But she’s trying to make time for Bette and her friends now and she still needs to kick Eric to the curb as she continues to make excuses for him and why she is with him…
I agree Tina needs to sort out her life…..does she want Eric or Bette?
Hey BAT, so enjoying your story. I love the way you’ve developed your characters. Tina has an edge to her that is rough and insecure and shows off a tendency to be aggressive and unsure of herself. A new tilt in a story about her and Bette is someone we’d all love to have in our corner as a friend, lover or partner. She kind, generous, brilliant, so gorgeous and SO patient with Tina.
Now Tina is finally waking up to parts of her self that really aren’t too pretty. I wouldn’t care to know her in this story with the personality that she has. I loved that Valerie called her on her shit, as someone had to. This ‘open relationship’ stuff really isn’t what its all about as she uses it to hide behind.
She must have been really hurt in some past relationship as she doesn’t seem to trust allowing others in too deep. Well, as they say, all good things must pass and if she isn’t careful, Bette will be gone sooner than she thinks and her chance at a relationship of amazing quality will be blowing in the wind!
Excellent piece of writing my friend! Thank you!
IMO, this was one of the top chapters in this story. Tina is kind of floating around , not anchored to anyone. Tina has to decide if she wants a committed relationship and with whom. If she wants a “just friends w/benefits” type of life so be it but when she is older she will regret losing “the one that got away”. She is very insecure when it comes to her “relationship” w/Eric. It is a soulless relationship only sexual. She may care for him b/c he is relatively nice to her but Bette is all good things plus she is exciting. She would lavish all kinds of attention upon Tina or any partner. It’s just her nature.
I appreciate the frequent and longer postings.
Val summed the whole truth in this conversation with Tina.
Now she has to take a foot in the ass of Erik.
Great chapter.
10 stars.!
Nice Chapter I enjoyed it. You have given Bette such a lovely character here which makes you just want to go and be part of her life. Glad Val has knocked some sense into Tina and I hope she will now kick Eric into touch asap!
