    ‘Please Alice.’ Tina bent down, her eyes pleading with Alice. She placed her hand on Alice‘s lap and looked up at her. ‘Promise me you won’t tell anyone. Especially Bette. ‘ Alice shook her head, she couldn’t ask her that. She couldn’t ask her to see Bette and act as though she didn’t know what they had done to each other, how they had hurt each other. They both might believe that giving each other time was enough to bring them together but if things had gotten this far then they could not ignore it.

     

    Tina recognised the anguish in Alice‘s eyes. She knew that she couldn’t understand why they hurt each other or why she didn’t want anyone else to find out. She felt fortunate that Alice had not screamed it at the top of her lungs. Kit had made Alice understand, she had helped Tina to understand too, what happened that night.

     

    She had not realised how guilty Bette had felt at her actions, how much she blamed herself for their actions. All Tina remembered of that night was the way she had flung herself at Bette, how her flailing arms repeatedly attacked her and how they had collapsed onto the bed in a desperate need to reconnect to each other.

     

    It had not been gentle, but Tina did not blame Bette for that. They had both carried the burden of consequence and now that Tina knew what Bette felt she could not hurt her anymore. It was enough that Kit knew and she wondered how Kit had been able to prise that information from her, but to know that others knew about what they had done would tear Bette apart. Tina did not want that pain for her.

     

    ‘Alice. Please. Promise me you won’t tell her.’ Tina tried once more to secure Alice‘s silence. She opened her mouth to speak but Tina stopped her as she took hold of her hand and placed it on her stomach. ‘Promise me. Swear to me.’

     

    Alice looked up at Kit for an explanation but finding none turned back to Tina, a look of total confusion on her face. If she had placed her hand on her heart and asked her to swear she would have understood, but there was only one reason why she would have pressed her palm to her stomach. Her mouth fell open slightly as the words tumbled out, ‘Oh my God. Tina, you’re pregnant?’

    4. excellent update! you were sneaky there in the beginning making me think tina and bette were meeting. then you had tina waiting for her at the house. oh the suspense….i hope all their questions are answered. good luck with your papers.

    7. Just caught up on this chapter and the last. Both were excellent chapters! You have a captivating story here. After reading the last chapter, I thought that the person Bette saw was Candace but was actually hopint that it would be Tina. At the beginning of this chapter, you had me thinking that it was Tina only to turn around and have Tina waiting for Bette at home at the end! Looking forward to the next chapter.
