Put it up to your ear…what do you hear? Final Chapter

    Previously….

Is that why she has always heard that giggle? Because the shell never really belonged to her in the first place. Maybe she was just supposed to hold onto it, keep it safe, until she could give it back to its rightful owner…the one whose giggle still remained hidden inside the shell.

Looking up at the shelf where the shell was prominently displayed, Tina knew Dave was right. It was time for her to let go. Time to let go of the power she associates with the shell, and take that power back for herself.

"Well, my little seashell," she said out loud, for once knowing exactly what she wanted, and knowing that she was going to fight for it…for her.

"How do you feel about being exchanged for an earring?"

Put it up to your ear…what do you hear? Final Chapter

With a renewed sense of confidence Tina walked back to her bedroom, knowing that for the first time in two weeks, she would get a restful nights sleep.

The next morning she once again waited for the clock to chime 10:00, and then picked up the phone and dialed Bette’s gallery.

    "Bette Porter Gallery, James speaking."

"Hi James, my name is Tina Kennard. I called a couple of weeks ago about my earring."

"Tina! That’s it!!" James snapped his fingers, then cradling the phone between his ear and shoulders, pulled out the envelope with the missing earring and wrote TINA KENNARD in big letters.

"I’m sorry?" Tina asked, confused by James reaction.

"I’m so glad you called back. I didn’t get your name the last time you called. Unfortunately I was interrupted as you were speaking so I only heard Eric’s name."

"Oh…" Tina’s brow furrowed in confusion. "So, you didn’t give my message to Bette?"

"Oh no, I gave it to her, don’t worry about that. But, because I didn’t hear your name, I gave her the number you left along with Eric’s name."

Tina leaned back against the couch filled with a profound sense of relief as realization set in. No wonder Bette didn’t call her back personally! Tears filled her eyes as hope soared through her heart.

"Oh Bette…." she whispered out loud as her heart went out to the woman her soul was connected to, knowing they had both shared the same miserable two weeks. She must think I was playing some kind of game with her…handing her my earring like that, and then having Eric call instead of calling myself.
