    Realizing – Chapter 14

    14

It’s still early when Bette wakes up after a brief nap. She’s alone in the bed. Her body still aching since the accident a few hours ago. She sat up, put her off the bed, she stood up.

“Oh God.” Bette says. “TINA.” She calls out.

Moments later Tina walks in with Angelica right behind her.

    “What?” Tina asks.

“I think I got hurt after all.” Bette says and looks at Tina.

“No. Where does it hurt?” Tina asks as she walks up to Bette and takes her hand.

“The leg. The one that took the hit.” Bette says and sits down again.

“I’m taking you to the clinic, I’ll just dress Angelica, are you gonna be okay while I do that?” Tina asks.

“Yeah.” Bette says and lay back down on the bed. The pressure is off the leg and it doesn’t hurt so much. Tina hurries with Angelica and walks out and put her into the car. She rush back in to help Bette.

    “Getting worse?” Tina asks.

“I don’t know. It doesn’t hurt when I lay down.” Bette replies.

“Okay, come on, let’s go.” Tina says and helps Bette up.

Bette makes a face and then they walk out and into the car.

    “Mama, okay?” Angelica asks.

“Yes, mama is fine, she just has a little booboo in her leg. We’re going to go and make it better.” Tina replies.

They drive to the medical clinic and walks in. Tina is carrying Angelica and holding Bette’s hand.

“Hey, I’m Bette Porter, I was in an accident earlier today. I felt fine then so I didn’t go with the paramedics, but the last hour or so, my leg hurts a lot.” Bette says to the reception desk lady.

“Okay. If you can fill out this form and bring it back here, I’ll get a doctor to look at it.” The lady says.

“Thank you.” Bette says and walks over to where Tina and Angelica have taken a seat.

“What did she say?” Tina asks.

“I have to fill out this form first.” Bette says.

    “Okay.” Tina says.

Bette fills it out and walks back to the desk to hand it over.

“The doctor will be right out. It’s a slow afternoon today.” The lady says.

    1. Sounds like Bette ought to be icing that sore leg! Thanks for the update; it will be sad to see them say goodbye to the gang, but fun to see how things go in London.

    2. I’ve noticed that when I have an accident I’ll have some pain at first, but the next day it’ll feel REALLY bad. Bette got lucky that she just got a bad hit and not a fracture.

    3. I hope that’s all there is wrong with Bette’s leg. The year will go by quickly they’ll see. It’ll seem like they never left…and when they come back it’ll be better than ever right? Right?

    4. I sorta feel bad for Alice because Bette was implying that they need to rebuild there relationship without her, which may be true, but I think Bette would have been a better friend if she had said she was going for the money. This way, Alice and Shane won’t realize later that they may have been the cause of Bette and Tina leaving. Beyond that, I love this story and look forward to the next chapter. Thanks for your effort with this story.

    5. I hope also that there is not going to be any complications with Bette’s leg. I think in regard to brigbeach’s comment, it is solely Alice who has to know and comment on every single thought and feeling and action anyone else has..not Shane, and it would be nice if she ever realized that maybe if she minded her own business, people wouldn’t have to leave. Please don’t let there be complications from the accident!!

    6. its good they’re gonna start again alone, sometimes friends and family can be your worst enemy even when they love you, and it stops them being so dependent on bette and tina…nice realizing here…PPS

    7. Hey Lauren, Good to see that Bette was not severely injured by the car. I liked the way that Tina was there supporting Bette through it all; harks back to their previous incarnation. And brilliant to have them finally tell all the gang. I loved the way their family reacted; sorry that they were leaving but understanding that it was for their best. Please contnue soon.
