“I agree with you also doc. I know I’m passive aggressive sometimes in the relationship. I do lash out as well. I don’t consider myself as confrontational but sometimes I think that I am holding things in when in fact they are being revealed not in my words but in my tone and actions. Something came up earlier this week that’s a perfect example of that behavior. That’s why we thought we should talke about it with you today.”

“OK Tina, that’s really good. What’s going on?”

Tina takes a deep breath. She holds Bette’s hands as she starts to relay her feelings about Bette’s relationship with Leigh.

“I think you already know about Bette’s personal and business relationship with Leigh Ostin. When Bette and Leigh were together it was after we had separated for the second time and Angie was about 8 months old. Helena Peabody was pretty much out of my life by then but it seems she was still on her mission to totally destroy Bette’s and she used Leigh to do that. That happened over five years ago and Leigh’s been gone all that time living in New York, but now she is back in Los Angeles. She and Bette met on a flight from New York a couple of weeks ago. Bette might have already told you this but they’ve made amends and have decided to rekindle their friendship and their professional relationship. Bette has also recently hired her as the arts professor at CU.”

“Yes, Bette has shared all that with me, so what’s the problem?” Emma coached.

“In my heart I trust Bette. She has assured me that there are no longer any romantic feelings between them, but even though we’ve talked about it when I heard that Bette would be attending a business function with Leigh in a couple of weeks I still showed my jealousy and insecurity in my tone. Bette picked up on it right away. The good thing is that she called me on it because I didn’t even realize I was doing it subconsciously. Ever since then, I’ve been thinking about where these feelings might be coming from. I assure you neither Bette nor Leigh has given me cause to doubt them so I had to dig deep inside myself to understand the underlying cause. I think it’s stemming from the time when I was with Helena and the first time I saw Leigh.”
