Chapter 13

(Still Saturday night)

Sam is in her hotel room putting the finishing touches to her makeup before going out for the night.  Sam has a natural beauty, and rarely needs more than mascara and blush to be hit on all night.

She goes back over the information she gathered on Kelly today in her mind.

The school district wouldn’t give her much.  Just that Kelly tendered her resignation after 7 months.  The principal tendered her resignation the week before Kelly.  All of that is public record.    But Sam needed to know the why.  And she wasn’t getting anywhere through official channels.

Sam walked into the ‘Midnight Cabaret’ and scanned the room quickly, looking for the young blonde who she was certain would give her some answers.  Nikki Stevens was Principal Adele Channing’s secretary.   Sam knew that the Principal’s secretary knew EVERYTHING about everybody on a campus.  Sam was intent on getting the information that she sought from Nikki.

Sam walked over to Nikki and her friends.

“Would you like to dance?”

Sam was a low key, smooth operator and rarely did this straight forward request ever get denied.

Nikki looked at her.  She was just getting a buzz on and thought Sam would be some fun.

“I’d love it.”

Sam smiled and let Nikki lead them to the dance floor.  Sam placed both hands on Nikki’s hips, then looked into her eyes.   

“Hi, I’m Sam.”

“I’m Nikki.”

“It’s a pleasure to dance with you Nikki.”

(45 minutes later)

“Kelly Wentworth is a fucking snake!  She almost ruined Principal Channing’s career.  She cost her her marriage….and she has to fight to see her kids!  Kelly was only using her!”

“That may be true, but Channing had free will….she didn’t have to sleep with her, did she?  Kelly didn’t force herself on her did she?”

“No, it wasn’t like that.  But Kelly was always going to her office….flirting…wearing short skirts.  Ms Channing and her husband were having some hard times. Kelly was relentless in pursuing Ms. Channing.   Kelly just took advantage of her.  It was her first time…..having feelings for a woman…..and Kelly just exploited her in every way that she could.”

Sam was watching her carefully and nodding as Nikki vented her disdain for Kelly.

 “The scandal was humiliating for Ms Channing’s husband and he pushed to have his wife fired for ‘inappropriate conduct with a staff member.’  The school board gave her a choice to resign or be fired.  She chose to resign.  Once that Wentworth bitch realized that she was gone….she resigned her position also.   She is a wonderful principal….she made a huge mistake with that trashy ho….I hope she is able to get another chance to be a Principal.

Sam sits back and processes all that Nikki had told her.  That Skank Wentworth is a one woman home wrecking crew. 

All that is left now, is to find out about the lost month between when she was hired by the Fairview School District and when she actually started her job.

Shane hangs up the phone after talking with Peggy.  She knows it was late….but she also knows that Peggy is a night owl.  After relaying her thoughts on 2 nights of possibly seeing Dawn in the neighborhood, she knew that Peggy would find out whatever there was to find. 

Shane knew that not only she, but that all their friends would do anything to keep Bette and Tina safe.  Peggy Peabody would leave no stone unturned to find out what Dawn Denbo was up to.  And, if that meant she had to throw some stones too.  So be it.
