Tina and Bette had talked a few things over later that night, the events of the party including Bette’s disagreement with Helena. The next morning Bette felt guilty, she felt closer to Tina than she had in a long time but she had hurt Helena.
Tina knew what was on Bette’s mind. ‘You need to call her Bette, call and apologise to Helena and to Alexa as well really.’
‘T she was out of line a little too,’ Bette insisted, a healthy dose of pride and obsitnence mixed in with her guilt cocktail.
‘Bette you suggested that her girlfriend was about to start an affair with a man because she talked to him for a few minutes out there. That is kind of insulting to both of them.’
‘Oh fuck,’ said Bette and slumped in the chair. She really had fucked up yesterday. Apart from Tina, Helena was arguably her closest friend and she’d let her insecurities over Tina and jealously at Helena’s new romance cause her to try to create problems for them that paralleled her own
‘Call her Bette,’ said Tina again.
‘No I think I need to go over there, otherwise Helena’s only going to brush me off on the phone and pretend to forgive me and Alexa’s just going to think I think that she’s some kind of slut or something which I absolutely do not.’
No, thought Tina, I’m the one you thought was a slut but she remembered their making love last night and the honest talk they’d had afterwards and hoped they really had but the issue behind them, this time.

As Bette and Tina arrived and Helena’s place, Alexa and Helena were out on the beach, trying to finish assembling and fly a Chinese box kite, which had been a rather bizarre gift to Helena from her business associates in Shanghai.
‘Try holding it out into the wind like that,’ suggested Helena.
‘Are you sure that stick is in the right place Helena?’ asked Alexa.
‘I don’t know. Why did I let you talk me into trying to build this thing?’
‘Because kite flying is fun and you’re having fun you just don’t know it yet,’ stated Alexa.
‘Run with it Helena. Yay it’s flying!’

Emma is the sort of error that creeps into the story when I write a chapter late at night after enjoying a few glasses of mine with my friend Emma and she has now been corrected to Alice…x
Gosh these women are so connected deeper than friends or accquaintances instead theyre like one big family, who enjoy each others company. Great update I think this is my fave chap so far…but hey theres many more to come right? Their relationship is a like the most beautiful diamond when the sunlight hits it…a rare moment and it forever. Alice always cracks me up with her humour so you have done a great job at portraying her I might add. Keep it up…PPVS
