SOMETHING SO RIGHT
Chapter 49
It took Tina two hours to show Bette everything that she wanted on the farm. The end of their walk was a visit to one of the Poly tunnels where they discovered Tina’s father working pulling fresh spring onions
“Hey dad “
Niall looked up and smiled at his daughter and her lover.
“Those look gorgeous “ Bette said
“I have to get some salad boxes sent off tomorrow but these are for the house “
Bette wandered down the tunnel looking at the salad vegetables all growing in beds of soil. The
tunnel was hotter than Bette had expected and she was impressed – she could see that this was an impressively professional operation.
“Have you been giving Bette the grand tour ?”
“I have – just haven’t shown her the bees and the horses but that’s next “
“You two okay ?”
Tina waited until Bette was out of ear-shot
“I assume that mom has told you that I had a real go at her. One of her friends has been bad mouthing Bette “
Niall looked at Bette and nodded
“I know. Your mother knows to give Bette the benefit of the doubt. She worries about you and she thinks that you suddenly settling down is – well suspicious “
“Do you ?”
“No – I spent time with both of you and I saw how the two of you are and the way you look at one another. I like Bette – I think she utterly worships you “
“She does and its two way dad. Having her here is special for me – I don’t want anything or anyone spoiling it “
“My advice babe is just to just let her see how the two of you are together. She will come round – just don’t force her into a corner like you did this morning. Has that ever worked with your mother in the past ?”
“No “ Tina sighed “ But I am so passionate about Bette “
“I know that – just relax. Bette has a lot to get used to. Get her with Willow and Finn – they are curious”

Well, Tina’s mother needs to listen and watch those two in action. Maybe Mom has had a lesbian relationship in her past and was left with the man instead. That could be the entire reason she dislikes Bette and not because of what Carol said. After all, they were hippies, Woodstock devotees and from the free love, “Make love, not war” generation. There is more to what Tina’s mother is saying than meets the eye. Wonder what her problem with Bette really is? Can hardly wait for the revelation in future chapters. This chapter was really great AllyE. Post when you can.
First, let me say if you iron pillowcases, something is seriously wrong with you!! Second, I really love this story. I’ve been waiting on the drama to surface, and it did in the form of Tina’s mom. Love how Bette stood up to her!!! PPS

Why iron pillowcases? You are just going to sleep on them. Crazy! I love this chapter. I’m so glad Bette got a chance to say a few words to Sarah. People change Sarah. Get off your high horse and give Bette a chance.

Wonderful chapter. Most bed linens are polyester or wrinkle free cotton. Just dry and shake out. But I have a friend that LOVES to iron and so she irons blouses that are no-iron. She just loves that crisp look. Each to her own. And if it makes her happy, so be it. Better than excessive gambling, drinking etc.
Way to go bette! Tina’s mom seemed like she had already made up her mind about Bette before she even met her. I hope this has given her some food for thought. PPS
Oh and about the pillow case thing I think People who iron them are a little nutty. I had a friend God love her who not only ironed the pillow cases, but the sheets also.

Bette’s reputation is one that many mothers might worry about – mother’s don’t usually feel good about partners who sleep with many many women- that too is a fact of life that Bette has to confront IMO. But what she had to say was well said and the fact that she didn’t just storm off shows how much she adores Tina and will do all she can to win over her family. Regarding pillow cases- I only iron what I must but I think my vote would be to each her own, as long as she’s not making you iron them.

Sarah still needs to take the stick out of her ass and stick some bud in her bong! I told you a few days ago that I was raised by wolves, so not only was ironing pillow cases foreign, so were pillow cases. Even after I left the pack and started sleeping in beds I have never in my life ironed a pillow case. In fact I avoid ironing all things as much as possible. BTW, the eastern diamondback IS found in North Carolina, and as they are walking around in their shirtsleaves, I would expect the snakes would find it warm enough to be out and active (sort of like Bette in the old days!), so the city girl and everyone else should be just a little cautious walking in the woods.
I’m crazy,crazy,crazy.My poor boys worn crease B/jeans,Iron shirts and so did my husband even to undershirts. I love to smell the clean smell of the pillow cases and the crisp feel of it on my face. Love how Bette told Tina Mom about the courtship of Bette and Tina. How she love her and so in love wth her. Tinas moms doesn’t realize how lucky both B&T are to have that love soul-mates. Maybe Tinas Mom has a good gentle loving kind man but not her soul-mate thanks
I am loving this story. The ironing of the pillowcases is really a small thing in the grand scale of life. If that is someone’s worst foible, they’re a gem!
I wonder if this Brenda really slept with Bette. It sounds like something maybe Shane would say if someone is over persueing her. I love how Bette just finally laid it out for Sarah. “I am here to stay, with or without your approval. I try to iron as least as possible because I was raised in an “Ironing household”. one of my grandmothers use to iron very thing except soaks, but she used to work in a professional laundry. Get over the pillow cases, life is too short.
O.K. *blushing slightly*, I used to iron pillowcases and my socks, but then I got a life. This was a really good update Ally. I enjoyed Bette taking on Mama Kennard. Bette will make her come around eventually….who could resist that Porter charm!ventually

This Brenda chic sounds shady, you can say alot about Bette sleeping around but she isn’t the type to low blow a woman like that. Sarah really does have a long way to go before she is going to make up for the damage she is causing with Bette and Tina. Bette is so sweet and adoring with Tina. I am glad that she told Sarah about how they met and got together.

really sur[rised that tina’s mom is bases her decision based on heresay, who know what was really said and was there really a brenda? go for bette to telling tina mom how they met, now if theat does not show mom how much tina and bette love then she is missing a few brain cells… nice to see tina and will talking about college, besides why is tina’s mom so reluctant to make the farm better? for someone is suppose to be so open she is very stubborn, there has to be some hidden story to mom’s craziness? awesome update… can bette go horse ridding,lol.. :)PPS

Woah. I’m glad Bette explained to her their courtship. Bette always treated Tina with respect, adoration, and kindness.. and really, what more can a parent want. Plus, Tina said her parents had an open relationship.. and in one chapter it seemed like she took drugs while pregnant. Doesn’t sound like the type who can throw stones. Also, I was rereading..and I hope Dana comes back into the friend circle. She is a hundred times better than know it all Helena.
