    CHAPTER 9

Bette closed the door to the exhibit and walked out into the main gallery.  After grabbing a bottle of wine from her office, she poured herself a glass and sipped thoughtfully as she looked around.  It never ceased to amaze her that this was all hers.  It was her gallery paid for with her money and it was a true labor of love;  after tomorrow night, she hoped to take its’ success to yet another level, but that wasn’t necessarily what was on her mind tonight.  Tonight it was about Tina.  And about showing Tina that she was actually saner than she seemed, and more romantic than the blonde could ever imagine.

Bette walked through the silence of the gallery and reflected on yesterday’s dinner.  Tina was smart and funny and sexy as hell.  Bette knew women.  She knew what they liked  and how they liked to be touched; but Tina wasn’t just any woman, and this wasn’t just another relationship for Bette.  This was different.

The buzz of the front entrance pulled the gallery owner from her thoughts and she turned and casually strode to the front of the gallery.  She saw Tina on the street, wrapped tightly in her jacket, a gray and black scarf wrapped high on her neck, covering her beautiful smile.  Bette turned the lock and shivered at the gust of cold air that greeted her.

"Jesus it’s cold," Tina smiled and leaned forward, kissing the brunette with her cool lips.

"Hmmm.  Starbucks" Bette licked her lips and smiled, "You taste like an eggnog latte"

Tina squinted and leaned in for another kiss, "You like?"

"Tis the season and all that," Bette joked before taking charge of the kiss, caressing Tina’s tongue with her own.

Tina sighed and pulled back breathlessly.

"Still cold?"  Bette smiled, helping Tina with her jacket.

    "No."

"Good. Let me get you a glass of wine."

Tina followed the brunette into her office.  The lights in the gallery were dimmed just enough to see Bette’s face, but not enough to see more than a hundred yards at a time.

"What are you doing here in the dark?"  Tina took the glass from Bette’s hand and stared at the gallery owner as she leaned against her desk.
