    Chapter 17

     

    Friday Gallery opening night “Provocations”

     

    Tina received the invitation to the Gallery opening via messenger, the productions meetings she had all day ran late and she was disappointed she couldn’t make the artist dinner Catherine had invited her to.

    Tina had invited Helena to accompany her to the opening but was disappointed that Helena  had received an invite from her mom Peggy and already had a date, Helena invited a young and up and coming director she was very fond of named Dylan.

    Tina did not want to go alone, she was nervous since she figured Bette would be attending as Catherine’s date and Tina did not feel up to dealing with that situation, she was having so many thoughts and feelings for Bette she wasn’t sure how she would react, she was glad to know that Shane and Alice would be there since Alice was covering the event for the Art magazine.

    Tina had finally decided to invite Brenda, Brenda was the girl she had taken home that night at Milk she had gone out with Alice and Shane, Brenda and Tina had met up for a couple of lunch dates and spent some time talking on the phone, to Tina’s surprise she found she actually liked Brenda and they shared a lot of the same interest, she also found out that Brenda was a very smart and accomplished heart surgeon and she worked just as much as Tina, which gave them another thing in common.

    Tina was going to meet Brenda at the Gallery, Brenda had a last minute  emergency at the hospital and decided rather than to make Tina late she would take a cab and meet her there.

    Tina checked and double checked her hair and make up, she didn’t know why she was so nervous, she had been to so many events in the last 6 months  movie premiers, award assemblies but today for some reason she was almost frantic, she guessed it had a lot to do with the fact that she might see Bette there.

    Tina wore her hair up in a messy up do that showed off her long neck she applied light make up in shades of pink that made her look looked beautifully natural. She was wearing a diamond shaped pendant with a matching pair of earrings, it was a gift to herself after she finished shooting her first documentary for the studio it was a little expensive but she felt she had deserved to spoil herself.

    3. I’m so glad these two reconnected. Bette needed to rise to the occasion and made the move to bring them together; particularly after she virtually abandoned Tina following their first night together. Given that Bette went over to Tina’s to talk, I certainly hope the morning brings a long conversation about the two of them. I hope Bette has an explanation for pushing Tina away for so many months.
