That’s What Friends Are For [Chapter Eleven]

“C’mon, tell me.” The journalist pleaded.

She clasped her hands together and batted her eyelashes; it wasn’t working on Bette but Tina was slowly giving in to her new friend.

    “Well-”

“Tee…” Bette sighed in exasperation, “God, just tell her then.”

Tina smiled with achievement before leaning in to kiss a pouting Bette. It took a moment or two to coax Bette to reply, but she eventually did.

“The first time he ever saw me was when I was naked, apart from a pair of boxers. I was so shocked, I didn’t even speak, I just ran into the bedroom-”

Alice’s jaw dropped, “He saw you naked?”

Bette chuckled softly, earning a gentle swat on the arm from Tina who was not impressed.

“Yes, naked, anyway… back to the story, I got dressed and walked out. Basically, we got talking and then Bette suggested that I was to make dinner for us all.”

“Oh God, isn’t Melvin extremely opinionated?” Alice groaned – almost feeling their pain.

Tina merely nodded her head, causing Bette to roll her eyes.

“Hardly.” She scoffed, “He’s just… not very accepting of others.”

    “Babe, he is opinionated.”

Bette was about to open her mouth and argue but Tina cut in.

“I was cooking in the kitchen and he startled me, I ended up dropping a knife and cutting my foot.” Alice instinctively looked down at Tina’s covered foot. “I almost passed out, didn’t I babe?”

“Yeah, it was pretty horrific.” Bette agreed, “He was just being a prick.”

Both Alice and Tina gasped at Bette’s choice of words. “Did you just call Melvin Porter a prick?” Alice spluttered.

Bette blushed profusely and looked away, “I didn’t mean it…”

Tina giggled, “Awww, babe, we know you didn’t mean it.” She brushed her thumb over Bette’s cheek, as if she was rubbing away her embarrassment. “Don’t worry.”

“Jesus, you two make my stomach turn.”

They were too enthralled by each other that they didn’t even hear her comment, or at least acknowledge it. It got to the point where Alice stood and returned to the wall, where she continued to peel the paper away in patches.

    1. Awwwww this was too cute. I love how tender Bette was, and attentive in making sure Tina was ready to make love. I smiled with the whole “I love you,” “I love you more,” “Not possible,” lines. My wife and I used them so much long distance, and still today when she calls me in between her college classes. I’m liking this story quite a bit. Alice, you pegged her personality so right, and loved this line when Alice tells B&T to get a room. “We do have a room-” Bette began. “You’re just in it.” ROFLMAOO!!!! I could see that scene playing out before my eyes. Thanks for sharing your talent with the site. Looking forward to more.
