    PART TWO: SANTA CATALINA ISLAND

    Chapter 12

Sunday was a beautiful day on Catalina Island and we spent it mostly at our hotel, doing absolutely nothing of significance. It was a treat to kick back and be comfortably lazy.

Angie crawled in bed with us at what seemed like dawn. She wormed her way between us. Bette lifted the sheet to cover her and we all fell back to sleep. Then one by one we woke up, not really caring what time it was.

Bette ordered the hotel’s complimentary breakfast. They brought us a very generous spread, including warm baked bread, hearty granola, milk, a bowl of fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and piping hot coffee. Angie ate very well but Bette and I were only interested in the coffee and a few pieces of fruit.

Ahhh, it was so nice to relax on our balcony and read or just watch the people walking up and down the street below us, or splayed out on the beach, or being part of the harbor activity on Avalon Bay.

For lunch we walked down Crescent Avenue to the Green Pleasure Pier and had soft tacos at Eric’s popular stand. We sat on stools and blended in with the rest of the Sunday tourists, most of whom were there on day trips. Later we strolled back and went to lay out at the beach until it was time to go back to the ship.

On board, the return trip was quiet. Everyone was tired from having too much fun. We sat on the open deck and stayed cool with the other guests. Terry joined us for a while. There were others at our table so we could not really talk about our future plans.

When we got closer to the Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro we could feel the heat again, although it did not seem as intense as it was a few days ago. We watched from the railing as the Free Spirit slowly returned to the same dock we had departed from. We felt the bump and saw thick ropes tethered securely to posts below us, front and back.

    1. Well, buying a house together is a good sign for their future plan. I am with Sissee about that, how can they afford it? Perhaps as an investment, they can do it with mortgage and sell it later. I think Bette is determined to get it, am I right?

    2. Bette’s Babe, You are always good about guessing what is going to happen next but I would rather you wonder than tell you outright. Suffice it to say that a lot of things are going to happen to this couple all at once, to the point where they could buy several homes.

    3. WHAT!!! Where’s the rest? Not fair stopping there Sissee Gardner. I wanna know how Bette’s gonna wheel & deal & get them this house. I guess I’ll just have to be patient & wait for your next post. Have a great day!
