    PART THREE: ORANGE GROVE, CALIFORNIA

    Chapter 11

    I saw Bette’s naked body in the orange hues of the candle light as she bent over to lay down next to me and shivers of anticipation went through me. I breathed in the fragrance of her skin, fresh with lavender soap, as she rested her head on her pillow. I found the mint she had left and unwrapped it for her and put it in her mouth, as she smiled. I opened my mint too and sucked on it.

    I was eager to make love but she wanted to talk first, to bring herself down from the rejuvenated feelings she had of being a mother again. I settled back onto my pillow as our heads touched side by side and I pulled the covers over both of us, then we stared up at the ceiling watching the candlelight flicker with hills and valleys of shadow and light.

    She wanted to talk about Tina and the baby, so I listened patiently. She hoped that Henry would not talk Tina out of their plans to try and work things out together. She said it would be so wonderful if she would be given visitation rights because then Angelica would be included in our future, in our collective family. I assured her that that would make me very happy too. It was just a given that we support each other in every possible way.

    It was then that we made love.

    We laid on our sides and began to kiss, those nice slow kisses that we had both grown to love and appreciate. We touched each other’s faces with our finger tips, tenderly caressing each other as the warmth of the kissing heated up gradually. Bette slipped her tongue into my mouth and rubbed it against my tongue. We could both taste the mint that had melted away and it enhanced the pleasure of being intimate.

    She began to kiss my neck as I felt her damp, curly hair tease my skin. I turned to lay on my back letting that wonderful hair spill over my breasts as she kissed a trail from my neck to my nipples which made me squirm with want and desire. Her kisses were always so sweet and soft, like angel wings brushing my skin.

    5. Bette’s Babe, I’m pleased that you see this sexual encounter as something that happened between two lovers. There is an emphasis on “lovers”. They are totally in love and that’s what happens when you love someone so much you want to stay connected even AFTER sex. As for it being too short, I know it is but I did not want to run this erotic NC-17 chapter into the next PG-13 one. That would have made it twice as long but I think you will agree with me when I say this chapter had to have a place all of it’s own.

    6. I agree with everyone that posted above me. That was pure love the one kind you want to be slow and never let go. I just read the chapter before this one and I was surprised that Tina wasn’t mad or jealouse. So I guess she is really over Bette. PPS

    9. September, First, thanks for your encouragement. I really appreciate your being here. Second, several of you have mentioned your surprise over Tina not getting jealous or mad at Bette when she found out in the previous chapter that Bette and Sissee are a couple. We can’t judge Bette and Tina in 2006 by what happened in the 2008 series of TLW. Please remember that Bette felt it was necessary to get Tina to a sex therapist in 2006, that Tina was not responding to her overtures, that Tina slept with Bette in the same bed but never had the urge, that she was experiencing “lesbian death bed”, that she was flirting with men at work, that she was on the internet with Daddy-Oh, or Big Daddy or what ever his name was, having cybersex, that Bette kicked her to the curb, more or less, out of her bedroom, that Tina nagged Bette about money, about not having a job even though she herself did not have a job while she was trying to conceive, that Tina was attracted to and had sex with Henry, that she began seeing more and more of Henry, that she moved in with Henry, that Henry talked about adopting Angelica, that they wanted to take Angelica away from Bette, to see her in court, that Tina ignored Bette’s calls, would not answer the door when Bette rang the door bell, that Tina told Bette in the last chapter that she was very serious about Henry. Now add up all those things and do you really still think that Tina should have gotten mad or jealous about Bette being with Sissee? It really seems to me that Tina, at that time, was so involved with Henry that she could not care less about Bette except that she was also a mother to Angelica. What I tried to convey was that Tina was not surprised or angry with Bette about being involved with someone else, she was just surprised at who Bette was involved with. Otherwise, she was so wrapped up in her own world at the time that Bette’s love life did not matter to her. This is how I perceived that time frame so perhaps now you will understand why Tina did not get mad or jealous. I hope so.
