The Beginning of Bette and Tina–Chapter 2

Tina’s heart ached as she watched Bette walk out of the room.  She wanted to run after her, and began to move her feet to do so but then she stopped—fear had now consumed her.

What am I doing?  Why would I run after her? I don’t know if she has the same feelings, if she felt everything I just felt.  And to top it off, it’s a “her.”   I’m not a lesbian, hell, I don’t even know if she is.  But I know what my heart and body felt when I saw her.  Oh my God, I have to get out of here.

“Aaron, I just remembered something I have to take care of, so you’re in charge.  But listen, don’t you dare act like you did earlier, okay?”

“I promise.  What do you have to do?”

Tina had started to walk, almost run out of the gallery, “I just have to leave.”

“But where are you going?” he shouted after her.

Bette turned around when she heard Aaron yell—just in time to see Tina walk out of the gallery.

“Fuck,” she mumbled, “Oh, sorry, not you.  Listen, I’ll have to call you back.”

Bette headed for the door, determined to catch Tina.

Why would she leave?  I thought for sure she felt the same way I did, but what if I misread her?  No, I saw the look in her eyes.  She had to have felt what I felt.

Bette got to the door just in time to see Tina pull away from the gallery.  It tugged at her heart to see Tina headed in the opposite direction of her.

Fuck.  Now what am I supposed to do?  Oh yeah.

“Aaron,” Bette said, clearly unaware of the flirting she was interrupting between him and James, “why did Tina leave so abruptly?”

“Oh, uh, she said she had something to take care of.”

“Did she say where she was going?”

“No, just that she had to leave.”

“Oh.  Well, can I have her number?  There are a few things I’d like to discuss with her.”

James smirked, knowing that’s not what she wanted her number for.

“Yeah, of course,” he said as he began to write it on a piece of paper James handed him.

“Do you…uh, do you know if Tina has a girlfriend?” Bette managed to ask.

“A girlfriend?” he asked puzzled, handing her Tina’s number, “No.  Tina doesn’t play for that team.  However, she doesn’t have a boyfriend, if that’s what you want to know.”

Bette’s heart sank when she heard those words.

    1. Ahhhh, but never fear the power of love. Tina will begin to want to join the team and swing from the opposite side. Besides who would not want to swing with the other team when Bette is the batting instructor.

    2. Like one of my friend often says (she’s kind of a player, I fear…) : Most girls are straight… until they’re not !” Tina is sure one of them… Run after her !
