The call to her arms, Chapter 6

    Previously…

And then she felt her… Standing behind… Close… She could smell her perfume. The one that always took over her senses for it was the exhilarating ambassador of her presence. Her whole being was on alert, suddenly attentive to the enthralling woman behind her.

Nothing happened for a few moments, but Tina could feel the brunette’s gaze on her… Almost burning her skin. She swallowed and was going to turn around when she suddenly felt Bette’s warm breath on her neck as she leaned in and murmured into her ear.

    “A penny for your thoughts…”

    Chapter 6

The brunette’s words had been uttered so softly that it still tickled her ear. And the smile held in them made the blonde ache to see it on its owner’s lips. But not quite yet…

She smiled and replied just as softly.

    “A penny?… Is that all they’re worth?”

She both heard and felt the chuckle caress her ear and her neck, and it made her shiver. Then, she felt Bette’s hand brush her side and sneak its way around her waist to present her with a very small square package on its palm.

“How about a caramel then?” The brunette whispered even closer to her ear.

Tina’s smile grew wider as she tried to ignore the intense reaction of her body at the feel of Bette’s hot breath on her skin. She looked at the brown candy and let out a giggle.

“Well, I suppose that will do…”

She raised her hand to pick the caramel from Bette’s hand, when its owner smoothly closed it, trapping the blonde’s fingers between hers. Holding the captive limb inside her own, the brunette gently turned Tina around until the blonde completely faced her with her back against the wall.

They looked deep into each other’s eyes… Startled at first by the brunette’s unexpected move, Tina was now slowly melting under Bette’s gaze, both captivated by the touch of her hand and the intensity in her eyes.

The pounding of their racing hearts resounded even louder when, looking at their joined hands, Bette stepped closer to the blonde and softly shook her head,

    1. Hey ya Kw, a little mishap kept me from commenting on your last chapter so I’m now catching up (I’d like to blame it all on Kins but she’d just say I had it coming ;) As always, I continue to be in awe of your writing. I don’t know how you do it but I feel personally pulled into and connected with this story every time. As a matter of fact I was struck in the previous post with the double meaning of the “war” that Bette was fighting; the Nazis and her feelings for Tina and “competition with Henri. Then there’s the opening of your very first chapter that still plays in the back of my mind. And I really enjoy the way you show the growing connection between B&T – the “penny for your thoughts” and caramel gift exchange was just so endearing and sweet. I kind of felt as if I had intruded on their private moment together.I was not expecting to find anything funny about this story but Alice’s quip about driving to Berchtesgaden and shooting Hitler made me laugh out loud (and also think “good idea”). That was just so Alice. For such a heavy setting for a story as this it’s nice to have those moments of humor and levity :) Thank you. Looking forward to your next post to see where you take us. Hope you have a wonderful week too! Cheers – iHH.

    2. You are such a good writer. You bring the characters to life and the tension that builds between the characters and the tension that exists in a life and death situation (such that all of them are in) is gripping to say the least. As always I am anxiously awaiting your next post.

    3. when I read “she felt Bette¡¯s hand brush her side and sneak its way around her waist…”, I thought it’s there already? It’s not the KWord75 that I know of. Then after I finished the sentence, I was like “right, you should know better than that. It’s not the first day you know whose middle name is BIG Tease”. So Bette was going to fly to London, I don’t know about Tina, I already missed her.

    4. Just when you think there maybe light at the end of the tunnel so to speak Bette has to fly to London. Where does that leave Tina? Will Tina be gone by the time Bette arrives home. Can’t wait for more, i only started reading this last night but i can safely say i am hooked. Great writing. But i knew that already Kins speaks highely of you and i have read some of your other work when you both co-wrote with one another.

    5. O come on KW you can not leave such a wonderful story unfinished. you are an exceptionally gifted story teller. I love how you have used WW2 as your backdrop . please, please come back and finish it.

    6. Hey K! :o)x thanks for the update! I absolutely one of the rest who is looking forward to your story! :-) Your writing on the connection between our gals is so wonderful! … such a great connection and its so palpable!! So touching! … And then it’s so heartbreaking as they have to part soon after that! I hope, although it’s in the ww2 era, they’ll meet again soon and nothing went wrong … (Am I asking too much here??…hope not! :-p )

    7. You have this amazing way to write the intimate moments. I remember from “Cure All”, the incident with the shirt in the airplane. You give a 3D dimension of feelings, with just a few sentences. How do you do that? (Rhetorical question!)

    8. Thanks for the update. I love the way you describe the thoughts and feelings between Bette and Tina. It’s just so sad that they don’t seem to stand a chance given the circumstances they dealing with. It seems inevitable that they are going to be separated very soon and probably for a long time. I just hope that they all remain unharmed. Bette puts herself in really dangerous situations all the time. Please keep her safe.

    9. Aarrrrrrrrrgh… You are an impossible tease….. OMG,  so close and yet so far away…. You just loved doing this… I bet you sit in front of your computer and think of ways to make us expect the most beautiful moment, only to take it away at the last minute….. I felt every last breath those two women were taking… I felt Bette’s hand closing over Tina’s as if it had been mine and  I even swallowed in anticipation for God sake… You are brilliant at intimacy…I have told you that already in my text this afternoon….. But once again, missy, it wasn’t  part of your plan to let us have a bit of heaven…. *very frustrated grimace* … Now on another note, has Tina’s mum ever taught her not to accept sweeties from a stranger??? Things are hotting up elsewhere too… You bring the big guns in your story… Love Alice’s sarcasm… I could so see her storming the Eagle’s nest… Now what I want to know is what code will Bette use to tell the rest of them that she has landed safely in London…let’s see…Mmmhhhh …. ‘the mermaid has swam ashore’ or ‘the Rose has bloomed in the field’ …… One thing I know for sure is that  Tina is not looking forward to seeing Bette leave…. It may precipitate certain events though! Right Kw?  Thank you so much for this chapter….. xxxxx K

    10. Bette leaving soon should speed things up in the tibette department. I am bracing myself for some kind of heartbreak because of the setting of this story. But well, bring it on.

    11. Hi Kword75… I hope all good for you :-) anyway…I truly understand that during WW2, the transportation was so not as advance as today… however, does it really take that long to reach London from Paris?? :-P Because since your last post in November last year, until Mid of January.. there’s no update yet?! ;’-( does it mean nothing new from the gals e.g. Bette is still in Paris and still sitting together there so there’s no update? :-D LOL… pardon me for being impatient :-) I just reread your story and … sigh… so looking forward to an update from you ;-)

    12. I’m with Merlion!. And it’s been 7 years now.. do hope everything is ok. Great story would love to read more. Just when it was getting good too…thank you…
