The Dying of the Light Part 21

Children fear the dark.  The unknown.

The ghosts the lurk beyond our understanding.  Our view.  That will taunt and play.  Show themselves and fade away.

When we grow, we don’t stop fearing the dark and all things unknown.

    We Rage.

Rage against the fear, the helplessness.  The anger and the tears.

Sometimes we give in.  We hide in the dark, let it steal our breath and our hope.  Our very will to live.

    **********

It felt like weeks since she was last home, her exhaustion so apparent that she could barely carry herself into the house.  Jiggling her key’s, she unlocked the door and slammed it shut.

“Bloody Hell,” Helena whispered as she leant back against the door.  Resting her head back with a small ‘thump’ she closed her eyes, collecting herself for a moment.  She needed all the strength she could martial if she was the clean up before she went to sleep tonight.

“Are you sure you’ll be okay with Angie?”  Tina asked again, earning a eye roll from Alice.

“She’ll be fine.”  Alice answered, exasperated with the question.  She really didn’t like the idea of Tina being away from Angie at the moment.  She had spoken to Shane and Carmen and they both told her how Tina seemed to gain some sort of solace from having Angie around.  The last hinge that Alice wanted to do was have Tina away from the one thing that was grounding her.

There had been too much of that going on lately.

“Are you sure that you want to leave her.  I think it’d be good if we all went with you.”  Alice suggested, smiling down at the little wonder she had been calming in her arms.  “I think Angie needs you too.”  A low blow she was well aware,  but Alice was never one to pull punches.

Tina stopped and smiled, “I don’t think Helena would appreciate the extra guests.”  Tina hedged, afraid to admit how much she didn’t want to be away from her daughter, no, her and Bette’s daughter.

Just thinking of Bette caused her knees to weaken and her head to start spinning.  With nerveless fingers she guided herself back onto the lounge behind her.

Alice could only watch as the colour drained from her friends face, not being in the position to assist with her arms full.  Making a quick decision, she leaves Tina for a moment and puts Angelica down.  Carefully covering her with the light blanket, Alice gently ruffles the fine black hair until Angie’s eyes close.

    2. thank you thank you thank you for sharing this tragically beautiful story! how I have missed your writing. You have such a powerful way of weaving words together. Beauty rises out of pain at times and this story is certainly a wonderful example of that

    3. Oh My Beautiful Dee… I have missed you so much… but I understand… but this… this right here… its like darkness consuming… all the light is gone… and we are left in shadows of desperation… of heartache… and my heartaches… there is so much love here… and yet we can see that love is the light at the end of the tunnel… its the quiet dying light that twinkles with hope… so much to say so so much… but I will leave you with this last bit, Love and Hugs, Always and Forever My Most Entrancing Friend… I am with you forever… JC, (Your Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels and the ever loving Cuzzie to the ever talented Eunichick, the sweetest of the sweets patpez and Personal Fanner to the Incredibly Talent Deean)

    4. I was worried you wouldn’t bring this one back. So glad you did, although it is at times a painful read, you write it so well. I can feel the pain each one of them is suffering. I so hope they will all be able to come back from this great and be able to put their lives back together again. I’m also hoping Tina and Angie will be able to see Bette soon. Maybe that will be the push she needs to help herself out of this depression. PPS this is too good to let go.

    5. Gosh, this is so painful to read and watch but necessary nevertheless. At some point, I hope Bette willallow Tina to be near her and let Tina bring the baby and to hear that she really does love her and had intended for her to see the baby and to have custody of her. These are the most important things that Bette needs to hear in order to get well. I know it is a lot for her to take but she must if she is to get well. Hope that Kit will continue too try to see her when the doctors says its alright to do so.PPS Painful but a mst necessary part of the story.

    6. What an incredible chapter. This story is so painful to read, but so beautiful too. I hope Bette finds a way to realize her importance in Angies life. Thanks for continuing this story, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to write.

    7. This chapter was dark and painful but I am ever hopeful that Bette they will all pull themselves up and out of this blackness. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story and bringing it back to us. pps

    8. Hi, sweet Deean, welcome back! It’s too soon to realize how Bette is going to react. She needs to analize the ordeal she went through and try to accept the help needed. As for Helena, she really could use some support from her friends. She still has the trauma of seeing Bette’s blood. Tina, for the first time in years, is thinking of someone else, instead of being focused on herself. Awsome update, dear friend. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks – Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)
