The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
Bette side stepped Al’s attempt at physical contact and waved her off.
“Goodbye Al…”
“Tina what’s going on, I come home and your not here.”
“Come with me…Al was right you do look like you need a hug” Tina stretched out her hand and Bette hesitantly followed her into the bedroom.
Tina removed the suitcase from the bed, fluffed up her pillows and laid down.
“Are you going to explain why my suitcase is half packed” Bette asked before joining Tina on the bed and resting her head on Tina’s chest.
“I will…..but not yet….” Tina replied wrapping her arms around Bette and she wasn’t the least bit surprised at how tense she felt. “Just try to relax”
Bette quietly obeyed and was basking in the comfort of being held by Tina instead of being held on too by Tina.
Her current state of contentment however was short lived as her eyes focused on the photograph that was displayed on Tina’s bedside cabinet. She always wondered why Tina had chosen that picture it had been taken the day before The Kinnards had left for LA and they all looked so miserable, maybe because it was the only one that she could remember being taken that included all of them together. The corner of her mouth turned up into a small smile as she remembered how long it had taken Mr Kinnard to set up the timer on the camera.
She stood out like a sore thumb with her dark hair and mocha coloured skin in contrast to the blonde and pale complexions of the Kinnards but never had any of them made her feel like she wasn’t part of the family. Bette had felt more loved, more wanted in their home than she ever did in her own.
Every unshed tear that had been defiantly pushed aside began their fervent descent, the silent flow of tears was quickly replaced with sobbing that shook her entire body.
Tina was not surprised when Bette finally accepted that the loss was one to be shared and not to be burdened, no one could sustain the level of strength that Bette had shown and she shouldn’t have too, Tina’s comforting hold tightened around Bette and she repeated the exact same words that she had heard from Bette each and every time she herself had broken down over the last 5 weeks.

All right, all right already. I’ll post. Thanks for this. It was awesome. I’m glad Tina went to Cambridge with Bette and I love that you addressed the fact that Bette had also lost a big part of her life. However, my favorite part of the chapter was imagining Helena waking up as Tina tastes the chocolate and having to suffer through it. And I don’t even know why because I normally like Helena, but I guess it’s because she’s been too gung-ho (emphasis on the ho) about going after Bette. Like usual, great chapter. Post very, very, very, very, very soon
That’s my girl! Well done Tina. :o)
Way to go Tina. Don’t let Helena stop you from dipping into the chocolate.
nice update
Well done Skimmy…you navigated around that bump in the road very well. LMAO about Helena’s snoring and Tina’s comment about shaving her eyebrows! Can’t wait until you post again!
Excellent! can’t wait for next chapter:) PPS
It’s great to see you writing again, skimmer – and I join the readers hoping you’ll post the older chapters of this story sometime. A story this lovely is meant to be enjoyed over and over again. :-) I adore your feisty Tina and sweet Bette. Thank you!
