The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
“T….nothing she can say or do is going to change my mind…ok.. Peggy and Helena will be flying back to England tomorrow and I will be right here with you…but I have to go now, she doesn’t like to be kept waiting….do you want me to call Al”
“No I’ll be fine….do you know how long you will be” Tina cringed at her own desperate tone.
“You want me to cancel…I don’t have….”
“Bette I’m fine…really….anyway your beginning to bore me….I could do with a break” Tina hoped her attempt at a joke would mask her rising panic, she hated those rare occasions that Bette would be more than a few feet from her side since she left the hospital.
Bette smile was larger than Tina’s attempt at humour warranted but it was the first sign that her Tina was still in there somewhere.
“I love you…and boring or not your stuck with me…got it” Bette grazed Tina’s lips with her own. “I’ll be back before you can say Al is a pain in the ass”
Tina’s sigh was heavy when Bette closed the front door behind her in acceptance of the inevitable desperate loneliness that would overwhelm her any second. It seemed that no sooner had one door closed when another door opened, her attention was drawn to the sound of the the patio doors opening at the rear of the house.
“I assume your the reason Bette will be late for our lunch, she’ll never make it on time….good thing I’m not going to be there waiting for her…..” The immaculate redhead currently making her way towards Tina extended her hand. “Peggy Peabody….now sit”
Like an obedient dog Tina could do nothing but comply.
“I’ll forego the customary how are you…because that would be a pointless question and you’ll learn that I don’t do pointless…..and that’s why I am here and not talking to your beloved Bette……you have to convince her to come back with me tomorrow”
“NO” Tina hadn’t intended to shout but the word had increased in ferocity as it travelled from the pit of her stomach.
“Well well my dear I would have loved to have met you before now if this is you at a shadow of your former self….however another thing you will learn about me I don’t do no……” Peggy’s tone quickly converted from amused to that of a concerned and loving parent as she wrapped a protective arm around Tina’s shaking form.
“Tina I’m not here to give you the if you love her set her free bullshit….I’m here to tell you that you have to do what only you have the capability to do……and if it helps you in making the right decision for both of you my jet is at your beck and call for the next 9 months….now I have a lunch date that I am late for…I promise I won’t keep her too long….just long enough”
Peggy left as abruptly as she had arrived leaving a stunned Tina in her wake.
A little over 2 hours later Bette skipped happily through the front door and searched for Tina
“Tina your not going to believe this but after she turned up late I may add she didn’t even attempt to talk me into going home, she must know me better than I thought she did…..T…..why are my suitcases on the bed”

Hey great as usual, bt pls don’t keep them apart for long:)I understand u can’t re post everything bt may be just dis story PLEASE. PPVVVS
tina will do the right thing for bette, even if bette dsnt like it she will go. poor tina losing her family and bette now wow skimm drama drama. any way skimm love reading and talking see ya
Wow can you say Peggy leaving the crow speechless… even though we all know they end up together in the end…still hard knowing that they go through this temporary seperation.
Skimmy you do spin an excellent yarn sooooooo perfectly. Why couldn’t Bette finish her degree in California…Tina had just been through a tremendous trauma and I think that Bette was doing the right and unselfish thing staying with her. Why do other people always think they know best. Bette was smart and taking a year off to help Tina recover wouldn’t have been a huge hardship for her. Well there endeth my sermon…stand up Bette and just say NO! Ohhhh….really well written by the way!
Poor Tina but hope she will go with Bette!
wow…nice twist in the story. didnt expect that one. great writing! looking forward what happens next…and yah, what are bette’s suitcases doing on the bed???
Poor Tina… instead of Bette leaving, was actually going with Bette an option? Post soon, and thanks.
ROFLMAOOOOOO HEY!!!! I resemble part of that author note! LMAO! You are too funny. The chat was hysterical the other night, and girl you are VERY sharp. I hardly got through my popcorn before you “guessed” that other person’s alter ego. I’m going to send you an honorary police badge! Okay…once again you have me hanging on your every word. Because it’s you, the unpredictable author who will write from her creative side and not what may or may not be expected by the readers, I’m VERY worried about the suitcases……….MORE!!!!!! ABBA ABBA ABBA! Hee Hee
OM Tna hasn’t got any family left apart Bette. What will she do if Bette leaves? poor Tina and Poor Bette.

Skimmer. Wow. You’ve left me totally speechless and absolutely and totally thankful that you stuck to your guns on this writing thing. I didn’t know we had a chat thing here. You know you’ve just contributed to my not getting any work done ever. Especially if you’re going to be around. Ok, back to commenting on the story. Wow (I know, I know, how illiterate of me to have to repeat that). Fat legs, how could you do that? You’re killing me here. No, but seriously, I was on page 4 or 5 when I realized that even though the obvious person to feel bad for is Tina, Bette has also lost a big part of her life. The Kennards were basically her adoptive family when she was younger. This is a great twist. Though I would have liked to have seen more conversation between Peggy and Tina. They seem like great matches for one another. Love this. So MUCH. PPVVVVVVVVVVVVS (and that isn’t enough V’s but I figured my comment would get cut off eventually)
Peggy’s behaviour is outrageous! Argh! Poor Tina… I’m glad that you continue this story. :o)
Awww Tina, her love for Bette is stronger than her fear of losing a loved one again. Is there a possibility that Tina leaves with Bette and stays the entire time that Bette is in England?
Thank you Skimmer for updating this story. Excellent twist. Love it and can’t wait to see what happens! I hope Tina goes with Bette! Thank you again for this and I’m sorry I can’t answer your question – I don’t know who I’ll save and probably drown being so fickle :-)
Ah persistent pushy Peabody
Skimmer I love both or your stories. Thanks for this update. Tina is very brave…
