    “Ass!” Tina recovers. She waits for Bette to turn her back then inhales the fabric deeply. She shakes her head then uses the shirt to wipe her brow. “Fuck!” she whispers before putting the shirt on. She has no idea what the hell is going on. She’s confused, she’s aroused and what’s more baffling is she’s finding the cocky pilot irresistible.

    “Okay. Let’s go.” Bette waves her hand for Tina to move.

    “I know, I know, we’re wasting daylight.” Tina repeats Bette’s infamous words. She takes off in front of her guide, hoping the walk will help her clear her head. She locates a faint path leading into the heart of the island.

    The island is a true paradise on Earth. They leave the crystal blue lagoon and white sparkling sand and walk into a majestic portrait where the artist’s favorite colors are bright and vibrant hues of green. The grass under their feet, a plush carpet, the tropical plants, rich in color and the tall island trees swaying in the sunlight all pay homage to the glorious beauty of Mother Nature. The hike is easy at first but they soon begin a steady climb up the mountain pass. Bette continuously points out the exotic wildlife and breathtaking waterfalls. The conversation is light and easy. It’s a nice distraction to Tina’s swirling thoughts and aching legs.

    “Hey Porter, how long have you been a pilot?”

    “Don’t you mean a pirate?” Bette grins.

    “Shut up.” Tina smiles.

    She stops after ten minutes of walking in silence. She lets Bette pass her, no longer sure of where to go. Bette looks her up and down with a giant admiring grin before taking the lead. Tina rolls her eyes.

    “I became a pilot after college. I was doing a lot of traveling my first year and decided I’d rather fly myself.”

    “You went to college?” Tina’s voice rings high in disbelief. She didn’t mean to sound so surprised. She gives Bette an apologetic smile.

    Bette chuckles. She’s finding the feisty blonde absolutely adorable.

    “I went to Yale, actually. I graduated with honors.”

    “Wow, so what happened? How did you end up here? I don’t believe for a second you weren’t successful. Did you not pay your taxes, did you have a nervous breakdown? Oh I know. Did you sleep with a gangster’s wife?” Tina asks, half teasing.
