"Al?" Bette reached for the blonde’s hand
"Yeah?" Alice was still not looking at Bette.
"Hey… You ok? Look at me."
Alice lifted her head and made an effort to smile, but it looked forced and they both knew it.
"I’m sorry." Bette whispered, moving to sit next to her.
"No, don’t be, really. I mean, I don’t know what I was expecting, I knew you were in love. But I guess I didn’t realise you would get so serious so fast. I guess I just didn’t fully believe it. I mean you’re Bette Porter for fucks sake!" Alice laughed.
"I know, I don’t think I believed it myself at first. It was such a strange realisation. But I am and -"
"And I’m happy for you Bette, both of you. You’d have to be blind to not have seen the change in you."
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yes. Hey Bette?"
"Yeah?"
"Would Tina mind if I called her? I think she’s avoiding me."
"She would love that Al; I think she was just waiting to make sure you were ok. She didn’t want to add… to anything."
"I’m ok, I really am, just took me a second to let it process. It’s a bit surreal. But… uh… I’m actually kinda seeing someone."
"Really, how is it possible this news didn’t make it to me in San Francisco?" Bette teased.
"I’m kinda keeping it quiet, the gang doesn’t know about it yet so-"
"Unlike some people, I am capable of not gossiping" Bette continued to tease. The two grinned at each other, their friends, who had been watching from afar, took this as a cue to return to the table.
"So 2 weeks in San Francisco eh? What are you going to do when Tina’s working?" Alice returned to the conversation, knowing if she didn’t no-one else would bring it up.
"I’m taking work with me; I’ve set up some conference calls and video links so I can still have some of my meetings. I’ve got a workspace set up and I’m taking my laptop so I’ll be pretty busy most days."
"And nights." Alice couldn’t help but needling.
"Shut up Al" 3 voices spoke in unison, but all 5 faces were grinning.
"Anyway, enough about me, what’s been happening with you guys?"

Hmmm…Bette is not going to like it when they’re back in LA and Tina sleeps at her house and Bette sleeps at hers. Should be interesting. Great update!

Glad all is cool between B and Al – they really do make better friends than lovers..and wonderful that Dana & Al are realizing their connection…this line was awesome and had me LOL – “Shut up. But on Tuesday it was just making out. But by Wednesday we were eating out.” Thx & PPS!!

That was a quick rebound for Alice. But I think it’s good for all three of them so that they can all move on. Yeah, Bette and Tina’s relationship got serious quite fast. After a rough start, they seem to be getting along nicely now. I don’t know if they’ll be able to live apart in LA after their 3-week live-in setup in SFO. Thanks for this update, tibetteporter! And don’t work as crazy as Tina. :>
