“Well I wish you and Tina the best of luck with a baby.” Bette smiled at Devon.

“This will be our second try, the first time she—lost the baby.” Devon frowned.

“I’m so sorry to hear that Bette,” Bette waved her hand.

“It’s fine, and that was the first time in my life that I ruined something that was treasure to me.” Bette sighed. “I had an illicit relationship with another woman, and Tina found out about it. She was completely devastated, and I didn’t have clue what the fuck to do. I put up a fight to get her back, and I did. She ended up doing a little stint with her feelings for men, but it didn’t last long. She came back to me, and we’ve been fighting ever since, but we’re getting better with talking.”

“That’s good to hear that you’re working things out with the woman you love.” Bette looked up at Devon and smiled.

“Thank you.” The two women smiled at each other across the table. Bette cleared her throat and sat up in her chair. “I think we should be heading back.”

“Okay,” Diem nodded as they got up from the table. Bette put a few dollars on the table, and they walked away. “I had really great time Bette. We should do this again sometime.”

“Sure, I’ll like that.” Devon smiled as they walked out of the restaurant.

            Helena pulled into Ryan’s driveway and parked the car. She took a deep breath as she looked up at the front door.

“C’mon Helena, you can do this.” She took the key of the ignition and got out of her car. She walked towards the door and approached the door. She raised her hand to knock, but stopped. She closed her eyes and sighed. She knocked on the door and waited. She heard footsteps approaching the door, and her heart began to race. The door unlocked and opened slowly. Ryan smiled nervously.

“H-hey, you’re here early.”

“I know, but I need to tell you something.” Helena looked at Ryan. “Can I come in?”

“Uh—yeah, sure.” Ryan moved out of the door, and Helena walked in. Ryan ran her fingers through her hair as she closed the door.

“I have something that I needed to tell you before it was too late. I just want you to know that I love you, and I wouldn’t do anything to harm you.”

“Helena—babe you’re scaring me.” Helena sighed heavily.

“I—I kissed a girl at work today.”

“What?”

“I kissed—,”Ryan waved her hand.

“I heard you,” she looked up at Helena. “Why?”

“It was an honest mistake. She was coming onto me, and I let it happen.”

“Your mother was right about you. You don’t know how to keep it in your pants.”

“Ryan, I didn’t—,” Helena looked away and saw someone.

“Ryan where’s the—oh, I didn’t know you had company.” The woman smiled, and Helena looked at Ryan.

“What’s going on?” Ryan sighed heavily and shook her head. “Ryan answer me.”

“I didn’t know she found me, but she did. That’s Sofia, my ex.”

“Is that why you hesitated to let me into your house?” Helena looked at Sofia and then back at Ryan. “Did you fuck her?”

“No!” She calmed down. “No, I didn’t fuck her. That’s the question I should be asking you.”

“I didn’t fuck the girl okay. We kissed and that was it.”

Sofia looked at the two women arguing. “Should I leave so you two can talk?”

Helena shook her head. “No, you can stay Sofia. I’ll just go.” She looked back at Ryan. “Call me when you decide not to hide anything from me.”

“You should do the same.”

“Wrong,” Helena pointed at herself. “I told you what I hid from you, and I told you I was sorry, but you didn’t even warn me that your ex was her. Were you hoping that she would be gone before I came over? Well—I found out Ryan.” Ryan looked away from Helena. “I’m leaving.” Helena walked past Ryan and walked out of the house.
