CHAPTER 302
NARRATION OF FIRST LADY TINA KENNARD PORTER
　
We are back in Washington for a couple of days before we head out to the Caribbean for a two week holiday on the Cayman Islands. CJ has shown us pictures of the house we are staying in and its fantastic – way beyond anything that I had dreamed about. We have a private two mile stretch of beach and the level of security that we will have is brilliant which is probably why Bette’s head of security has agreed to the venue. There is a private airfield ten minutes away so if there is a need to get us out in a hurry it can be done. Plus there is a American carrier a few miles off the coast doing some sea trials so we have the medical team there on stand by if something happens to any of us.
When Bette suggested a holiday I was really not sure it was something we need but the few days since she got back from her South American trip has convinced me. We are at a really delicate phase of our marriage. I know that with work and commitment we can get it back on track and we will be a really strong and happy family. But just as easily we could go the other way and cause some deep chasms in our relationship. It doesn’t help that there has been a fair bit of comment following the Washington Post piece saying that we are having problems based on her going down to Virginia when she got back and me not flying down until the next day. Bette hasn’t read any of the pieces – I know she knows about them but she’s got her head down working on a reshuffle which might be bigger than anyone else knows at the moment. She’s in a meeting with CJ and Shane at the moment going over names and strategies and seeing what can be done in the last few active months that she actually has left as President. The race to be the next President will start in January and after about May-June she won’t be able in all conscious to pass any more legislation other than what’s non controversial and what is on its way through the process anyway.

Tina needs to talk with H and Bette about this and sooner rather than later. What a quagmire

Well, well…I missed the Afghanistan link somehow!! Ah, Tina it is time for a “Come to Jesus” meeting with Ms. Helena! Some white house drama going on! Have a great weekend and PPS!
Well now Tina knows what everyone else knows, that Helena should not be anywhere near the White House and certainly not on Tina’s staff. Bette said so a few chapters ago while talking to CJ. If Tina wasn’t so damned stubborn she would see that Helena should not have been her Chief of Staff for all of Shane’s stated reasons. Hope she will consider that and get rid of Helena and not be a fool and dig her heels in over getting rid of her. As President Bette should let Tina know that from now on Helena is not welcome in the White House and certainly not in her administration in any way. If she ends up in her mother’s administration, if she wins, then that will be Peggy’s problem. Great update. Thanks for posting.

Hi Ally, Wow wee! What a brilliant twist that finally hit pay-dirt. This were suggestions that Helena wasn’t doing the best by Tina and now Shane has let the cat out of the bag. Much of the distain between Tina and Shane has obviously come from Bette’s attempts at protecting Tina from this truth. Tina now needs to take some time and sort herself and her office out. I think a long hard look at wat has been going on is needed. This shouldn’t intefere with the family’s holiday. In fact this time away is just want is need to give some distance and clarity. Kit’s comments about Tina’s potential visit to Afganistan only further cements Helena’s poor performance. I can’t wait to read more as I hope that Tina and Shane regain their friendship after this heated discussion. More please. Ally, you continue to provoke and inspire with this drama. was tina stubborn about helena? i don’t recall her being idiotic about helena business, got to read some back chapters. Tina has it tough as well with beating herself up over stupid holly incident. I hope she sorts out her thoughts. Shane does say what she thinks but she sounds kinda bit too accusatory here…Helena’s Afgan idea is after all not Tina’s idea or decision.
