I am just working through some messages when there is a knock at the door. It is Helena — we haven’t seen each other in a couple of weeks – she has been spending a lot of time filling in for her mother who luckily is due back to work after Christmas and her first public appearance is going to be our wedding.
“Hello darling – I got your message and I was in the area so to speak “
“You have no idea how good it is to see a friendly face Hel — come in and close the door “
She sits down and looks at me -her greeny blue eyes watching me with her usual intensity
“I need a friend right now Helena “
“Trouble in paradise “
“You’ve seen the stuff about my mother ? “
“Of course I have – made me glad for Peggy — though as I have embarrassed her more times than enough she can probably empathise with you more than me “
“The others are giving me hell about it – well some of them are “
“Let me guess — Bette’s lap dogs Alice and Shane “
I nod
“I like both of them but — well its not normal to put your boss on the height of pedestal that they do. Friends do not make good workers. They adore Bette — and my assessment is probably that you have taken their Bette away from them “
“That’s what Kit said “
“I like Kit a lot – she is the most honest of the President’s team – she isn’t afraid to tell her when she is just plain wrong. You need to never lose that ability either Tina “
“Bette and I are not always on the same wave length regarding politics “
“You are way more radical than her – that is obvious – well it is to me “
“How’s Peggy ? “
“Well I don’t think that the two of you will have debated what to wear for the wedding as much as her. I sense boredom is creeping in — she is reading 500 page novels at the rate of about one and a half a day. Some sent her an Xbox as a joke — she is having fun with that– ordering games on the internet and throwing them across the room when they don’t prove to be the intellectual challenge that she hopes them to be. “

If Bette’s staff was my crew their would have been some major ass kicking by now. Tina can handle herself and she did the right thing. Love how Bette skipped right over all that so far and just proceeded with the important stuff.

God, I knew Alice could be a jerk, but she and Shane have turned into flaming assholes. You’d think people so involved with politics would behave in a manner more politic. You’d think they were the mean girls in high school, and much like Emma of a few chapters ago have pissed on the beloved of one they care about. Just stupid. As Tina forms a new team, Bette may need to reshuffle hers. Not good on the eve of an election.
Gosh! I hope this story is going to go on and on – to the election and beyond. What is it with Alice – she’s certainly overstepped every boundary of loyalty and friendship. Both Tina and Bette have been incredibly tolerant so far – but for how much longer.
As Hansen said you re on a roll – and you know it!! These last two chapters awesome – I cannot figure out why Alice and Shane can’t get on Bette’s wavelength about her new life – are they idiots??You my dear are incredible – this story absolutely rocks!!
If I were Bette I would fire somebody, just to make the other’s straighten up. The sacrificial lamb, so to speak ? Great chapter.
Let’s forget the kids and concentrate on more important matters at hand… Obviously that’s what our girls decided to do, and it’s just soooo right! If our attention is what you wanted Ally… Yep, I think you got it! Especially with that last line! Oooo, baby, on with the concrete application of that statement!!! I surely hope that Bette will be ‘coming’ to bed… (Yeah I know that was easy.) Anyway, thanks Ally!
I think Alice especially and Shane are acting like idiots and should be treated as such. What they don’t understand is that they have pissed in the wrong bowl of cornflakes and it will come back to bite them in the patootie. I hope it is real soon. If this keeps up Bette will need to re-shuffle her staff as well. And she should. Don’t those fools know they don’t have exclusive rights on Bette. Only Tina, and she has sense enough not to act like it. Boy, they are stupid. Personally, I would let them go and enjoy working for someone else. Thanks for a great story AllyE.
I’m really worried now about Bette and her senior staff. I don’t know how her white house will function w/ Bette harboring this hidden anger towards Shane and Alice. Also, why do i see drama ahead if Helena accepts the job as Tina’s COS.. Still don’t trust Helena when it comes to Tina and I think she might try and cause trouble for Bette in Tina at some point. And I really think Tina is the one who is being childish here w/ the way she stormed into Shane’s office and dropped that box on her desk and she was leaving. Whatever happens w/ the lot of the I’m just grateful to be along for the fun ride. 5 Stars!!!
This was another great chapter. So if you are feeling better tomorrow do we get an NC-17 next? Also, I would like to know just whom are you sending my Anastacia picture to because that is mine all mine. Do you hear me woman?

Tina should have told them to put their tricycle in her ffice. Alice is an ass,and Shane not far behind her. Glad that Helena is on board for Tina. and I agree with Peggy, Marrying Bette take a better woman than the norm. Bette is one luck lady thanks for posting

Great writing Ally…yes they are jealous of Ms Tina and a part of me doesn’t blame’em but come on they’re supposed to be Bette’s friends and what makes Ms B happy they should encourage…never mind Tina made the right decision for her and they can go wank themselves as far as I’m concerned…really like Helena and Peggy’s words of wisdom in comparison to the immaturity of Alice and even Shane disappoints…PPS
Well at least Tina will not have to deal with the Senior Staff any more. The only person who should have any remarks about Helena being on Tina’s staff is Bette, the others better keep their fly trap closed.
Bette’s staff is unbelieveable. What a bunch of babies! Tina made the right decision to leave and leave early. Looking forward to the wedding!

Ok now i am oficially angry with Bette staff cause one thing is Bette their friends and other thing is be disrespectful with Tina who may i add will be The First Lady!!!! they need to grow up and see that there isn’t other person in the worl that loves Bette as much as Tina does!
I really didn’t expect such a childish behaviour from Alice and Shane. They ought to know where there places are is this thing. Great to know that Helena is still a good friend for Tina, she can really can use one now. Again I was enjoying myself very much reading this chapter, thanks Ally.
Alice and Shane need to grow up if Bette is to be re-elected. They have got to reaize that Tina is here to stay. Get over it, already. Bette needed to kick their tails, now they need to smell the coffee. Bring on the wedding.

Hi ally, how are you doing. I have to tell you that I can’t go on with your wonderful story, and all your stories are wonderful. You write so well, but this one is driving me crazy!! I think Tina should be thankful that Bette has staff that would die for her, and if she was smart she would have resigned from the Senior Staff as soon as she and Bette became a couple,the spheres would have been separate and none of this would have happened. But Tina is not smart, and she wants it both ways, to be treated as one of the rest on the staff and also with the respect the First Lady deserves, and in addition, Bette has endangered the friendship and loyalty of Alice and Shane. Tina is not the President or the freakin queen, and I wish she would get over herself and want Bette to be the best President she can be instead of only thinking about Tina’s ass all the time. You see how well you write, ally!! I want you to know that because of you I now know what jaffa cakes and jammy dodgers are and I am forever grateful! :) I hope you are doing well, and consider me a fan, even though I am not crazy about this one story!!!
I am sorry, but in my opinion Bette is acting like an ass going against the people who have been with her from the beginning of time. But since she have found a (girlfriend-wive to be) No one can said anything bad about her. Give me a break.I don not understand why everybody can not get along. It was her mother that started the problem in the first place.Not the staff. Thank you
