The Language Of Love Ch 6: Left Behind
"Hello" Kevyn threw the covers to the side as she slid out of the bed and into the bathroom.
"Hi…I need a favor" Alice answered happily. Kevyn ran some water and threw some on her face, she stared at herself in the mirror as Alice explained.
"Okay the park…30 minutes" Kevyn closed her phone and dried her face off with a towel.
"Hey how was the photo shoot" Carmen pulled out a chair for Shane who couldn’t resist the urge to lean over and give her girlfriend a chaste kiss. Dana immediately lit up when asked about the days events.
"Well Shane here…" Shane didn’t waste any time kicking Dana’s chair as she gave the athlete a long lingering stare.
"What…" Carmen looked back and forth between Dana and Shane but neither of them would give up any further information. When Carmen glanced away for a moment Dana gave Shane questioning glare, Shane just shook if off with a shrug.
"What’s Al doing" Shane asked as she noticed Alice over in a corner talking to someone on the phone.
"I don’t know…" Carmen glanced over at Alice, "I think she’s talking to Kevyn". Dana didn’t say anything she just knodded but curiousity got the better of her this time. She watched as Shane began whispering in Carmen’s ear, the pair giggled as they drifted off into their own world.
"Who’s Kevyn…" Dana tried sound as though she didn’t care at all, like she was making casual conversation. Shane and Carmen continued to fondle each other underneath the table. "Guys.." they looked at Dana, their face flushed, "Kevyn…who’s he".
"Um…she is…" Shane turned to Carmen but she shyed away, "a friend of Carmen’s". That response wasn’t enough for Dana.
"So Alice is on the phone with a chick who’s name is Kevyn…is this another lesbian identified man cause…" the jealousy laced Dana’s voice. Shane bit her bottom lip as she tried to search for the right answer.
"No Dane…she’s all woman" Shane joked.
"Gotta go" Alice returned to the table to retrieve her purse and keys, "Hey guys…" she said to no one specifically.
"Hey Al" Dana replied trying elicite some sort of special recognition from Alice, a quick quip like the olden days but they were long gone. They went out of the door when she and Alice decided to cross that line.
"Do I have time to change…" Alice wondered aloud as she glanced down at her watch even though she knew she would have to, "hey Carmen could you fill them in on tommorow…I really have to go". Dana watched as Alice rushed to go see whoever she was meeting, she had a feeling it was this Kevyn person.
"Bye Al…" Dana whispered underneath her breath, she felt neglected. The truth was that she wanted a spot in Alice’s life again and if it was a friend so be it that’s what she would accept. It just seemed as though Alice didn’t feel the same way.
