    The Mist (Chapter Two)

    The Mist

Bette’s mouth watered at the smell of grilled salmon on top of brown rice with string beans. She might as well have been her sister’s kid, waiting eagerly with a fork and knife and a handkerchief tied around her neck to keep the sauce from staining her shirt. The quiet sounds of the news cast from their small television in the living room resonated in the kitchen of their two bedroom apartment. For the first time, the debate over an art piece on a local news channel did not deter the young professor from claiming her food. Kit prepared her little sister’s plate, making sure she gave Bette her large portions.

“C’mon, Kit, I’m starving over here.”

“It’s your damn fault for not eating the whole day at that university you work at. Here you go…” Bette practically grabbed the plate from her sister’s hands, ignoring the patronizing look Kit gave her as she wolfed down her food. “…you better make sure you eat every bite.”

    “Beweef me Kit–”

The older Porter shook her head, while she placed her hand on her hip.

Bette gulped down her food. “Nothing’s gonna be left. This is delicious as always.”

“Of course it is, baby sis,” Kit grinned, making another plate of food for herself while Bette took a big bite of her grilled salmon. “Since the new manager of The Planet made ‘em, you can’t resist it anymore.”

Bette froze, and looked at her beaming sister with a string bean sticking out of her mouth. “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me!” Kit nodded while she laughed and put the plate she made for herself on the kitchen counter, expecting a big hug.

Bette rose from her seat behind the counter in the kitchen and rushed into the arms of her elder sister. Kit screamed when Bette jumped and wrapped her legs around her waist, almost pulling Kit down because of her weight. But Kit managed to hold herself up and allow her sister to wrap her arms around her head, covering her cheeks with small kisses.

“Bette, are you trying to get me killed?!” Kit tipped over, her face beaming in reflection of her little sister’s happiness.

    “Bette!”

“Oh my God, I can’t believe it Kit!” Bette tightened her hold on her sister again before she let her go, jumping back down to her feet. “When did your boss tell you? I thought he was going to give the business to his niece or something!”

    1. Amazing chapter, it is getting exciting. so what Bette will do with this piece of info dropped by Nadia about Tina? will she have the courage to approach Tina? is it true Tina is getting married? well I’m looking forward to ur next chapter;D

    2. I forgot to write this, Bette relation with her sister Kit is very wonderful, and I’m really worried about Bette hearing voices, is it something in her mind or she can hear people thoughts?

    3. Bette and Kit remind me of me and my sister a bit lol and I’m glad you used Nadia instead of Jodi, Candace, or Kelly actually, though i really don’t like Nadia in fanfics I actually liked her in the show because in a way she brought Bette out of that annoying depression thing she had going on in season 3

    4. Well well, getting more interesting with each chap! But wonder what’s up with the voices? Is T a vampire and Bette her soul mate, or Bette’s going insane, what? :)))PPS!

    5. Hmmm, Tina engaged, well we know whats going to happen with that, don’t we. As for Nadia, she is a good jealous character to have around. Tina will need her to realize her feelings for Bette.

    6. You have an ability to tell a story in an interesting, want to read kind of way. Your characters have depth and are intelligently written. It certainly stands out and is appreciated. I love how Bette oozes confidence even though she might be quaking inside.
