The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 11

///———-The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 11———///
James Cook was the director of operations at The Porter Gallery. He was phenomenal, of average build with short brown hair and warm blue eyes. He had walked Bette through the gallery, showing her the latest set changes for the upcoming show.
“I couldn’t do this without you,” said Bette.
James blushed. “You already pay me. There’s no need for flattery.”
“Things have been crazy for me lately, but you’ve held us steady. I really appreciate it. Thank you,” she said.
He stared at her for a moment, wondering what had happened to soften his boss. “No worries,” he replied. “I’m happy to do it. Very happy here.”
Bette smiled. “Good.”
“Have you and Sidney made the final decisions on which pieces she’s going to show?” he asked.
Bette forced her smile to remain. She knew from her memories that James didn’t know she and Sidney had separated. She cleared her throat. “We um…we’re still deciding. But I’ll work with her to finalize the types and sizes of the pieces. That way we can ensure the set designs will work.”
“Perfect. I’ve got a few things to take care of, but I’ll update you as soon as I can,” he said.
The brunette nodded and watched him hurry away. She looked back at her office. Sidney’s office was adjacent to hers. They even shared a door between them in case they needed to collaborate. With a deep sigh, she went to her desk and sat down in the comfortable chair. The room was neat and smelled of lilac and jasmine. There was another painting of Dana on the wall, this one in a pretty, dark rose color. A photo of her and Sidney together on the beach was on the desk. Though she’d resisted doing so all morning, she couldn’t any longer and finally turned the picture on its face. She didn’t want to see it. The Bette that loved Sidney wasn’t her anymore.
Bette was walking through the artwork again, writing down notes and sidestepping contractors. She made adjustments to pieces that were already displayed and drew sketches of what she had in mind for some of the items that were still to come. She was engrossed, her brow furrowed when she felt a presence approach. She looked up to meet the gaze of her legal wife, the intense blue eyes hidden behind dark shades.

Thanks for this early Christmas gift :-)
Interesting background story to Kit’s past. I’m curious about Bette’s meeting with her sister. Will she tell Kit about Tina?
Tina flowers and gift are very thoughtful. I wonder whether Sidney saw the flowers and card in the breakroom before she left. Time to finalize their separation. I have a bad feeling about Sidney still having a key to Bette’s house.
T + B have a lot to talk about when Tina gets back from NYC. Being exclusive with Bette is great but when will she come clean about Henry? Your AN “life rarely follows the plans…” leaves me a little worried.
Anyway, I wish you a merry Christmas, enjoy the season!
Looking forward to your next posting
cheers
Feeling like kiwipit. Seems like our girls gonna be shocked, disappointed and full of questions by the time they finally talk about their SPOUSES!!!
Bette seems to be agonizing about the fragility of relationship with Sid,but Tina doesn’t seem to give a hoot about ‘ol Henry! Hmmmmm did I miss a chapter about what’s been going on with them?
Thanks for posting. Having the same sort of qualms as the other com mentors here and looking forward for more posts.
Have a Happy Christmas
SG
I like this story, but I concerned about the future of these two because of Tina’s behavior. She acts then thinks about what she is doing. This is not the same character that we saw in 2005 who almost always over thought every situation. She’s definitely into doing what is easiest at the moment – go to church with the parents to keep the arguments down, have Henry escort her to all parental events to have the right appearance for the parents and friends. However, we really do not know what her relationship is with Henry. Is he just her handy dandy escort or is he or has he been romantically involved with Tina? Tina appears to be sexually experienced with women. Is it possible that Tina is a closeted player with Henry as her cover? Bette’s story is that she has been faithfully married to Sidney but Sidney’s cheating is what broke them up. Of course Bette’s relationship with Sidney did not seam like a very happy one which is why perhaps the cheating occurred.
I believe Sidney is still in love with Bette but exhibits signs of being mentally abused by her. Alice,James and even Sidney have commented on the softening of Bette’s temperament.
This is an extremely interesting story…I am soo hooked on it. Can’t wait to find out more about these 2019 characters.
Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Hola he seguido tus historia me encanta gracias pero lo único es que quisiera que los capítulos fuera más largos porque haces los capítulos muy cortos y quedo con ganas de leer mas
Martha3128 has expressed my concerns about Tina2019! She has definitely been the aggressor! And has done it inspite of being married…to Henry.
Just like Tina2005, the fear of dealing honestly with her parents has stunted her ability to grow with Bette!
Thank you for the new chapter!
Gift for Tina was great but i still prefer she’s telling Bette about Henry
