The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 48

The brunette sighed. “I need you to forgive yourself, Sidney. You fucked up. But it’s over. I’m moving on. And you need to move on.”
Sidney’s eyes watered. “It’s hard. I miss you so much. It’s really tough being here for the holiday. Alone. We’ve never been apart at Christmas.”
Bette nodded. “That’s part of why I’m here.”
Sidney gazed at her curiously. “What do you mean?”
“Christmas is on Wednesday and I didn’t want you to be alone. I called your folks. They are coming into town. Jack, too. Kit’s coming to pick you up tomorrow so that you can spend Christmas eve and day with the family.”
The bright blue eye grew wet with tears. “You called them for me?”
“I did. They love you. You need to let them in and let them support you. Kit and Dylan want to see you, Sidney. Alice misses you. I’m going out of town. Tina and I are going away for a little while. So, everyone will be at the house. Everyone will be there for you,” said Bette.
Sidney wiped at her tears. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I wanted to do it. Dylan really misses his Aunt Sidney,” said Bette. She passed a few envelopes to Sidney across the table, all reading “To Aunt Sidney”, in Dylan’s 10-year-old script.
Her eyes misted again. “He insisted on writing to you,” said Bette.
Sidney felt a rush of love. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“No matter what’s happened between us, they are still your family. And no one knows. Just you, me, and Tina. I’d like to keep it that way,” said Bette.
Sidney cringed. “Tina knows.”
Bette nodded. “She does. But she helped me….after. That’s the only reason.”
“I’m so sorry,” Sidney whispered, holding Bette’s gaze.
Bette shook her head. “I don’t want to think about it anymore.”
Sidney cleared her throat and looked out the window. “You saw the water?”
Bette followed her gaze. “I did. It’s very peaceful here. Kit will bring you back here on Thursday.”
Sidney smiled at her. “Thank you. I want to come back. I need to finish my treatment. I have about 15 days or so left to go.”

I agree with author – i think they need this conversation. Closure.
So Shane really did provide the stuff.? Well, there goes my hope that even she didn’t know and that the dealer was some other person of her salon.
This meeting with Sidney will hopefully do wonders for Bette’s self-confidence. She is strong enough to let Sid go and really see their marriage as being over and done with. Time to concentrate on getting stronger and keep her addictions in check.
Thanks for posting, MTS.
