Shane felt tears gathered in her eyes. No one in her entire life has ever kissed her with such love. Her life thus far has been from one foster home to another. She has learned from early on to stick to herself and be as inconspicuous as possible. Of course that did not always work as the bruises on her face could testify. Shane has experienced so much hardship in those fourteen years that when she first saw Ron with her big brown eyes, she was determined not to let it happen to Ron.

Ron looked into Shanes eyes and saw the unshed tears. She knew that no matter what those tears would remain unshed. These past 3 months with Shane she has never seen her cried even when Jake beat her when he was drunk or otherwise. Thus far Ron has been very fortunate and she knew it. Jake has not laid a finger on Ron, and it was all because of Shane who has gone out of her way to divert Jakes attention solely onto herself and away from Ron.

Since the police came to her house and told her of the accident, Ron has not felt safe except for these moments when she was with Shane. Ron leaned over again but this time she gave Shanes mouth a soft kiss.

Shane was frozen on the spot when she saw Ron leaning toward her again. She was jerked out of her stupor at the feel of Rons mouth against her own. Nothing has ever felt so good. Shane followed Ron as she moved away from the kiss and brought their lips back into contact. Her heart was beating so hard against her chest. God, my heart is going to break free any moment now, Shane thought.

A similar thought was flowing through Rons head. Ron was feeling out of breath and lightheaded.

Heat surged through their young bodies and pooled at their private areas. Both not really understanding what was happening to them, not knowing what to do about it. They hugged each other tight as each slowly fell into a deep slumber.
