The Triangle of Love – Chapter 22 (Part 1)

Alice rolled over and saw empty space next to her. Initially, she closed her eyes and began to fall back to sleep, until the fact that Dana wasn’t in the bed with her sank in. she rolled back over to make sure, but there was definitely no Dana. She began to panic, thinking Dana had left her.

    Alice: Dana?

There was no answer, so Alice lifted her legs over the side of the bed, and tried to stand up. Her legs wouldn’t let her. She sighed in frustration and tried again, this time falling forward, flat on her face on the floor. In the kitchen, Dana heard the bang and immediately ran to the bedroom, to see Alice sprawled across the floor.

    Dana: Alice, are you okay?

Alice: No, Dana. As you can see, I’m flat on my fucking face again. Help me up.

Dana walked over to Alice and lifted her up onto the bed. Alice Rested against the headboard and Dana kneeled on the floor beside her, holding her hand.

Dana: Why were you getting out of bed?

Alice: I was going to look for you.

    Dana: Look for me?

Alice: Yeah, you weren’t in bed, so I thought you’d left.

Dana: Al, I was making breakfast. I’m not leaving, ever.

    Alice: I’m sorry.

Dana: You have nothing to be sorry for. Just don’t try to get out of bed again. I don’t want you to hurt yourself.

    Alice: Dane, I hate this.

    Dana: What?

Alice pointed down at her legs.

    Alice: This!

Dana: I know, baby, but it won’t be forever. You’ve already made good progress.

Alice: I want to walk again.

Dana: I know you do, and I want you to as well.

    Alice: Anyway, what’s for breakfast?

    Dana: Your favourite.

    Alice: You?

Dana laughed at Alice and Alice giggled. She playfully slapped Alice’s arm before taking her hand again.

    Dana: No, pancakes.

Alice: Can’t I have you instead?

Dana: You already have, but if you remember, were not ready to be eaten yet, so I think you’ll have to wait.

Alice: Fine, but only because I know it’s worth it.

Dana giggled and leaned closer to Alice. She kissed her softly on the lips before scooping her up and taking her to the kitchen table. She handed Alice her pancakes, that were covered in whipped cream, strawberries and toffee sauce. Alice smiled at Dana and thanked her for making her breakfast. She looked around the room and noticed that Dana wasn’t cooking anything else.
