Bette took Tina’s hand and led her over to a relatively quiet corner. She turned to look at Tina while taking a deep breath, grateful that the public address system was churning out a message so that she could get her head together, even though her heart was pounding.
“Tina…OK, I don’t really know where to start. There’s so much I want to tell you and yet nothing seems quite right.”
“Bette, breathe. I love you, but you’re scaring me a little.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I love you too, yeah, that’s probably a good place to start.” said Bette, letting that deep breath out.”
Tina smiled, not used to seeing Bette so under prepared. Tina knew that Bette thought about everything before she spoke and yet she instinctively knew that what ever Bette was about to say was going to come straight from the heart, and to hell with the consequences.
“Tina, I thought that I knew everything that I wanted, and when I got it I found out that what you want and what you need are two completely different things. I made a terrible mistake, one that I’m only beginning to put right, and it wasn’t the affair, even though that’s part of it. The mistake that I made was thinking that you were someone that I wanted, when really you’re the person that I need…”
“I need you too baby, that’s more evident now than ever.” interrupted Tina.
“Please T, let me finish, otherwise I might lose my nerve. Anyway, all those years ago I would spend the whole day just smiling to myself thinking about all the things that we would do as a couple, make a home, have a family, grow old together and over the last few days that’s all I’ve been doing again. There are so many things that I can’t promise you, that I’ll never hurt you again, that I won’t say the wrong thing, that I’ll become less impatient, the list is endless, but there are some things that I’ll promise you right now. I’ll always want to be where you are, and if you let me, I’ll always love you right, and I’ll always love the way you look at me, with that passion in your eyes. You’re everything that I need Tina, I don’t know how to live without you and I know that this is a crazy place to be asking you such an important question but, I was wondering how you would feel about wearing your ring again.” said Bette, suddenly feeling very shy, her eyes dropping to the ground.

OMG so sweet! I teared up like the sap I am. lol And I feel Bette’s pain with regards to the alarm. Many times I want to chuck my clock across the room in the mornings. =p

Great chapter – but It does beg the question will they make it without their facilitator? maybe they’ll have to fly Kate over to be their coach.

CG, That was another extraordinary moment beautifully written in Bette and Tina’s life together. There was a sense of resolution and completing the cycle as Bette slipped the ring onto Tina’s finger. Great chapter mate, I think Bette can do spontaneous, she just has to have a know that when it come down to Tina, she wants her so much that the possibility of rejection stops her being spontaneous – she’ll get to know that its the right thing to do. Confident Porter is back… Great, loved it.
