The Trouble With Love Chapter Seven

“Remind me again as to when I agreed to do this?” asked Tina, racking her brain, trying to remember a conversation that she presumed her and Kate must of had.

“I can’t believe you don’t remember. It was just after we had been on The Eye. Although I do have a confession to make. You were so busy marvelling at the view we had just had of London, I struck while you were distracted.” replied Kate, laughing.

“You knew that I wouldn’t have agreed to it otherwise.”

    “Yeah, something like that.”

Three days had passed since Tina had spoken to Bette. Since then she had been all business, focused and determined on the job at hand, all distractions put aside for the time being. Easily working fourteen, fifteen hour days, dinner from room service in her hotel room and then bed. That was, until, Kate had reminded her that she had agreed to a night out in Soho. What with not really remembering agreeing to the night out in the first place and being tired from the schedule that she had just put them both through in the last few days Tina had wanted to back out but she knew that Kate had been a good friend to her during their time in London so here they were sat in a bar on a Friday night.

“So what’s been going on with you these last few days?” asked Kate, intrigued.

    “Nothing. Why do you ask?”

“Well, I don’t quite know how to put this but, all of a sudden you’ve turned into workaholic, my career is the only thing that matters, automaton Tina. It’s actually kinda scary.”

“Um, yeah, sorry about that. I just thought that concentrating on the job might do me some good. You know, focus on something that I actually feel that I can control for once. Instead of all the things that I can’t.” Tina hoped that this would make sense to Kate, but she was getting the distinct impression that Kate’s focus was somewhere else.

“That woman is so looking at you.” chuckled Kate.

    “What woman?”

“Over there, with the blue jeans and white t-shirt on.”

Tina adjusted her position in her seat so that she could look discreetly at the woman in question. She did seem to be looking in their direction but she thought that she might turn the tables on Kate.
