    I’m giving you a preview of what to expect tonight.

    ?Bette, you?re not the only one who?s done some soul searching recently. Just because I know where your weaknesses lie it doesn?t mean that I should take advantage of that. I?ve loved you for a long time and sometimes that love has been all consuming, at other times, we?ve just coasted along waiting for the next time when we?ll be enthralled by each other, so even when I haven?t liked you that much I always had that love to draw on. Can you understand what I?m trying to tell you??

    ?That if we?re going to build a life together then we should know that not everything is going to be perfect but if we continue to love each, like the way we do right now, then we?ll always find our way back to one another??

    ?And we?ll never lose each other the way we just did, ever again.?

    Tina yawned and closed her eyes as she snuggled closer into Bette. She could hear Bette?s breathing begin to regulate and knew that she was losing the battle against sleep, but before that happened Tina wanted to ask one more question.

    ?Baby, do you remember, the other night we spoke about, well, the faltering nature of our physical relationship, about how it starts and then stops??

    ?Yes.?

    ?Well, I was wondering if you?re ready for us to make love.? said Tina, glad that the lights were still off, to hide her irrational flush of embarrassment.

    ?You want to??

    ?Yes.?

    ?Now??

    ?Yes, but I don?t want us to feel rushed.?

    ?Neither do I. So what do we do??

    ?There?s always tonight and Sunday, and Monday, if you?ve got the energy.? smirked Tina.

    ?Don?t even think about cracking a joke about my age.?

    ?Now, would I do such a thing??

    ?Yeah, you would, but I love you anyway.? laughed Bette.

    ?You want to get back into bed??

    ?Sure.?

    As Tina stood up from the couch she offered her hand to Bette to help her up. As they walked towards the bed Tina seemed reluctant to give up Bette?s hand so that they could get back into bed. Bette gave her a questioning look to which Tina shrugged in reply. They both stood there in silence for a few seconds while Bette let Tina decide what she wanted to do.
