Till We Meet Again // A B/T Beginning Story Chapter 23
“Ok, I have to stop you right there … Just tell me what it means and if there is any hope at all…”
“There is always hope for anything Bette – but how much longer do I have to bear this. I feel like such a failure as a woman sometimes,” she started crying as Bette comforted her, trying to quiet her down.
“Shhhh…Didn’t I tell you T that you are a beautiful woman, and will always be?”
“Yeah…” Tina smiled as she thought back to one of their first conversations when they had been warring with each other. If someone had told her then that she would find comfort and solace in Bette Porter’s arms, she would have told them to check themselves into a mental institution.
“Have you considered a surrogate mother?”
“For a while we did, but since we have no female family members or friends, and I am just not comfortable paying and trusting a stranger to get pregnant for us, adoption seems to be the only option.”
Bette stepped back from Tina, putting her arms on her shoulders. “Have you considered me?”
“Have I considered you for what?” Tina asked, confused and a bit taken aback from the cold that hit after breaking out of the warm embrace. She clutched at her coat, as if fearing that her knees would give away
“Me…I can carry a baby for you,” Bette said, tightening her grip on Tina to steady her for the enormity of her words.
It made all the difference as Tina fainted in Bette’s arms.
********************************************************************************************
Friday night, after the Met Opera
The ride home was unusually quiet with both Tina and Bette lost in their thoughts. Tina could not remember crying harder than she had tonight—she had thoroughly gone through Bette’s handkerchief and than the sleeve of her jacket. Bette had said nothing—just quietly held and comforted her as usual, with no judgments, no snide remarks. They decided to skip dinner—who could swallow any food after sitting through that beautiful tragedy?
A heavy downpour had started immediately after they left the Met Opera, so Tina drove carefully. Inside the car, the torment and sorrow compounded the outer torrent of rain pelting the windshield. As she sat in the passenger’s seat, blinking back her tears, Bette wanted to scream and wail, pierce through the deafening silence that was eating her alive, tormenting her soul. She had never felt so alive in one moment only to feel so dead in the next. No wonder Tristan had agreed to one moment more and nothing more than that—anything else would have been unbearable, she thought ruefully, casting a glance at Tina through the corner of her eye. Bette wanted to do nothing more than to reach for her, take her into her arms and be consumed in their love, but her hands were bound. Something died in her again and again with every passing second.

I love your story! Oh no, all hell is about to break loose. I hope Tina and Bette finally admit their feels for each other….soon! You are doing a great job keep it up. I’ll be patiently waiting for the next chapter before you break!
Wow! I didn’t expect that from Tina, but it’s so hot that she’s going wild with Bette. (And cute.) They really have to be together! Ooh, I can’t wait for the next chapter. Sooo excited. Thanks so much MaverickLal101 for posting!
Maverick….love it more and more! They need to dump their spouses and get new jobs. pps
Fantastically funny and so sweetly sexy as well. I was smiling from ear to ear when they both were given feedback on their job performances. Bette – he deserved a Z! I hope one of them takes a chance on speaking honestly soon. By the way Mav – I’ll take blue balls anyday if I have something exciting to read and re-read over the recess… :>)
Just found this story and am catching up. About the “verse”at the end – thats not all from the same song, is it? The first 2 lines are in Latin and the remaining are in Hindi/Urdu.
Absolutely love this story. Looking forward to more.
fortlw — It is the same song — there’s a lot of overlap in languages nowadays (and I love that) — This one is in 3 languages. I didn’t want to translate it — I am sure you can find it through Google.
I’d give ya some hot peppers Bette! and hopefully Tina or Bette finally admits something to one another, is this why all Hell is gonna break loose??? PPS:)
I’m actually enjoying the bouncing around with the dialog. I think they’re both gone on each other, now the question is who makes the first move. I believe it will be Tina. Then that will make for an interesting anniversary dinner.
You know you are right, there are a lot of things that someone needs to consider before passing judgments or question peoples choices, I think if I were in Tina or Bette shoes I would go through the same kind of hesitancy and persistence of making this marriage work or lots of reasons. Sometimes love is not everything you should think about or consider, there are more important things that needs not to be overlooked. Thank you for clarifying that one for me, I tend to be sentimental most of the times and forget that there are four sides of the rectangular. This chapter was amazing and very well written, you have an incredible talent with words and of making us feel how do they exactly feel. I can’t wait for the next one, and can you please post soon. Have a wonderful evening. Love
Ok it took me some time but I finally caught up with this story, and it simply fantastic. Mind you I have seen the movie that this story is based and I think u have done a great job. The movie itself was very different to ur usual Bollywood genera and I loved it. The description of feelings and depth of love between B&T is simply brilliant. I hope ur ending is not as sad as the movie. Have a good Holiday and post soon please:)
It feels like Tina is so close to breaking out and telling Bette how she feels. Off to read more!
Oh no poor B&T please no more drama for them, they need to be happy now. That was good and please post more, thanks!
Maverick, Thanks for the song info. It is actually two languages (Latin, Hindi) and I know both of them.
Oh my, I’m loving this stuff ! So, in my last comment ( on the previous chapter ) I wrote that I loved your Bette with all her flaws… Well, obviously I still do ( her remarks on her students’s work were priceless once again. Only she can make intellectual vanity enticing ! LOL ! ), but I forgot to say that your Tina with OCDs is pretty amazing too, not to mention hysterical. That said, I think she lost it this time ! LOL !!! But your description of Tina slowly dancing in circles, her head thrown back, in the rain did remind me of a scene that I love in “Edward Scissorhands”. Speaking of which… I think I can say that I’ve seen quite a few Bollywood movies in my life ( yeah I love musicals and… Well, I actually am quite the movie buff ), but I confess this story doesn’t ring a bell, I don’t think I have seen this one. Which is good for, at least, I won’t be spoiled this time. Anyway, I love love love this fic and I find it tottaly, utterly enthralling. Oh, and I should probably add that no matter how much of a die-hard Tibetter I am, this is exactly the kind of drama that I truly love. I really get bored very quickly when it’s too easy for B & T. Thank you, Maverick ! You rock !
This is a most amazing love story. They love each other so very much and I hope that they get a chance to admit their love to one another and be able to be together to love freely, openly and with great abandon. This should really be a book of fiction, it would sell faster than it could be printed. You have given them such beautiful phrases to utter to one another. When Tina said, “Listen carefully baby”… I can hear her saying that. I can feel the anguish from them from not being able to express their love and it is almost suffocating. I can imagine how you feel writing the story. Great job. PPS
Tum Dil Mein Na Samaate.
Toh Bhula Dete Tumhein,
Tum Itna Pass Na Aate.
Toh Bhula Dete Tumhein,
Yeh Kehte Huye Mera.
Talluq Nahi Tum Se Koi,
Aankhon Mein Aansu Na Aate.
Toh Bhula Dete Tumhein.
