    Trivial Pursuit: Part 2

"Good morning, Bette." My tone was chipper and I was trying to be overly inviting.

    "Morning, DragonLady."

"Must you refer to me with so much disdain?"

    "Must you invade my life?"

"It’s truly not as it seems, Bette." I liked saying her name at the end of sentences. For emphasis. Or maybe I just enjoyed the way her name rolled off my tongue. Bette. Hmmm…

"So, you didn’t swoop in, steal my girlfriend and a girl that I was interested in, become best friends with my best friend and invade my life? That’s not what happened?"

"I mean, if you put it so bluntly, yeah. But you don’t know my reasons."

"Then what were your reasons, Helena?" And when she says my name at the end of a sentence, my body gets tense and the fine hairs on the back of my neck stand on edge. Trying to maintain a cool demeanor, I straightened up.

"If I told you that, I’d have to kill you." Bette opened her perfect mouth to say something, but our Philosophy professor Mathew Cragin had started to speak before a word could get out.

That would be the only time I would thank that man for anything.

    *Bette*

    Later that evening

I was dressed for the party in a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. I didn’t feel the need to get all dolled up for such an event. I was under the assumption that all the girls there, excluding Tonya, were straight. And I had had my share of straight girls. Shane was dressed similar, only her shirt was black and she had on Converse sneakers, as opposed to my little ballet shoes. We walked outside of our dorm and knocked on Alice’s and Hellbeast’s—oops I don’t know how I allowed that to slip, Helena’s dorm. Helena came to the door, fully clothed in a black spaghetti strapped tank and blue jeans. She was wearing sandals.

    She looked great.

"Alice is, um…well, she’s undecided on her outfit and I tried to help but…"

"But she’s putting up a fight. I’ll get her." Shane said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. She entered the dorm and closed the door behind her.

"You look nice." Hellbeast said. She didn’t smile or even look me in the eye. I assumed it was because of our little argument earlier.

"Thanks, so do you." Helena looked taken aback. So did I.

"Thank you." She exhaled deeply. I looked at her confused. She grinned slightly, almost embarrassed. She looked absolutely, adorable when she was embarassed. Her skin turned pinkish and she couldn’t keep that smile off her face.

That was the first time I noticed that Helena was actually attractive. Really attractive.

My attention was taken when a group of girls came down the hallway. Two blondes, a brunette, and a redhead. One of the blondes, the brunette, and the redhead I only knew as Bailey’s roommates. Bailey was the other blonde of the group.

She had a big smile. That’s what attracted me to her from the start. A big smile and big green eyes. I hadn’t slept with her, or expressed any interest to verbally, but she knew. I knew she wanted to walk on the wild side with me. All straight girls do, I think, want to get with a lesbian at least once.

"Hi Bette." She said as she walked by me. I smiled, watching her walk. She turned her head to me and threw me a wink.

"Bailey." I winked back. Her girls giggled as they all walked away. I turned my attention back to Helena after I got my mind off of the lovely woman who had just passed me.

    *Helena*

I watched as the little slut walked away and then looked at the amused, almost cocky, smile on Bette’s lips. Bette wanted that girl and it made me more than jealous, more than upset.

    I was furious.

I had Bette’s undivided attention for almost a minute and it felt lovely. More lovely than you could even begin to imagine. To bask in her awareness was like a drug, and I needed more of it.

Unlike a fiend for a ‘real’ drug, I didn’t know how to go about getting my next fix. Would I resort back to my old behaviors or actually try to be friendly? I chose the former.

    1. I like the idea of Bette and Hellbeast clashing before the inevitable happens. Sorry to hear the school grind is getting to you already. I know the feeling.

    2. So the little slut walked away while Helena was getting her groove on. Oh Bette I think you are in trouble. The green eye monster will make you pay for your arrongance and I can’t wait. Because for some sick reason they seem so hot when they’re fighting. Or it could be the things they could or would do to one another if given a chance.Excellent update!
