Carmen’s POV

When we arrived at the hospital I ran to the reception and called for help. Two ambulance men came out with an ambulance stretcher. They put Shane on it who looked at me scared. She had one hand under her chest and the ambulance men lifted her shirt. Her bandage was full of blood. The sight of it shocked me. I had my hands on my mouth muttering how sorry I was.

"Carmen…"

"I am here. I will stay here, they will help you okay? I’ll be here waiting for you."

The ambulance men hurried into the hospital where she was put to the ER. Once again I waited and I waited. It seemed like an eternity. I realized that her bleeding must have been caused by the chase. I made her run after me although she had an operation only a few weeks ago. It was my fault and I couldn’t stop thinking about it and it killed me inside that I am the one who jeopardized Shane’s health.

"Miss…?"

"Morales. Is she going to be alright? What exactly is wrong with her?"

"Well Miss Morales. The wound she received from her accident didn’t heal as good as we hoped. It opened up which caused the bleeding. She lost a lot of blood so we had to give her a blood transfusion and sew the wound again. Do you know what caused the opening of the wound?"

"She…she ran after me…I…I didn’t think about the wound. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know that this could happen…"

"Its okay. You didn’t force her to run after you it was her descision. Don’t blame yourself. I just need to make sure that Miss McCutcheon will take things slow. She needs to rest and give the wound time to heal. I want her to get checked at the hospital once a week from now on. She will have to stay here, but I guess she can go home tomorrow."

"Okay. I will take care of her."

Shane’s POV

 I really hoped that I would never have to come back in this hospital room or at least not too soon but I guess that bad luck sticks on me like dirt on shoes. But once again Carmen was there when I woke up. She smiled faintly at me when she saw that I was awake and tried to hide her tears.
