Two minds without a single thought…
Bette’s body was stretched out, lazily soaking up the afternoon sun. She could feel the rays reaching out and stroking her already sun kissed body through the leaves of the maple tree over-head, leaving a dappled effect on her body. She had been taking very good care of herself this summer and she smiled coquettishly as she admired her lithe form lying before her. She wiggled her painted crimson toes and smiled at how the colour made her feel. Red, being her favourite colour. The colour of passion, love and fury. A colour you could really feel. Feel it in the depth of your stomach.
A soft, melodic rhythm wove its way from the open French doors across the lawn to the side of the pool where she was lying. Music was Bette’s meditation, nothing made her escape herself so thoroughly yet go into herself so intimately like connecting with lyrics from a song. Sometimes, she would get the same feeling without lyrics when the music in itself emanated so much more than words ever could and filled her with a depth of emotion so powerful she felt as though the tune was an extension of herself, her mood externalized. This wordless, meaningful comprehension was so rare yet so engulfing that the very reason for her being so addicted to music of all descriptions was the chasing of this pure desire to occasionally be blessed with a form of its all encompassing beauty. To be intoxicated and utterly without thought.
Bette closed her eyes and let the flow of the soft lyrics take her mind with them. Smoothing out the frustrations of her week and teasing out the possibilities of the weekend. An afternoon in the sun had made her skin moist and Bette was pulled back from her musical escapism by a compulsive desire to dive into the pool. She knotted her hair back loosely with a band from her wrist and strode over to the tiled edge. She gracefully poised herself dead centre and dove majestically head first, barely making a splash. Bette was a natural in the water and as she held her breath and kicked her way strongly to the far side of the pool she reveled in the cool soft feeling the water left on her skin. Like she had just dived in-between satin sheets. Her head popped up once she had swum a full length under water and she kicked off from the side swimming the returning lap on her back. The sky was a deep azure blue and just a white cloud or two graced the sky line. Bette loved white clouds in a summer’s sky. They added contrast, a point of reference to remind you that life is always transient. A mark on a faultless canvas to prove that beauty does exist in imperfections.

Welcome to this site and I love this start. I could feel the air and water, and see the colors that the sun left as it passed through the sky on it’s way to the western skies.
