Chapter 5:
Tina’s House:
Bette stood against her K1200 motorcycle waiting for Tina, when she arrived Tina heard the sound of her motorcycle. Tina quickly went downstairs after she said goodbye to her mother. She went outside and walked to Bette. Bette smiled at her and thought that Tina couldn’t look more beautiful.
“Hey, you look beautiful,” said Bette, but when Bette complemented her she became shy. Bette smiled at Tina’s cuteness.
“Thanks, you don’t look so bad yourself,” said Tina smiling. “Come on, hop on,” said Bette putting her helmet on. Tina immediately jumped on the motorcycle and she put her helmet on.

 

Milk:
Papi and Shane were always the first ones to arrive to Milk, they came in tighter but never left together. At 8 o’clock she saw Bette and Tina come in, Alice, Dana and Carmen told them they would be there around 9pm. When Papi saw Bette and Tina together she immediately suspected something between them. “Maybe they’re tighter, but doesn’t want anyone to know,” thought Papi. Bette and Tina walked up to them and greeted them before sitting down.

 

“No, girls yet guys?” asked Bette chuckling. “Nope, not yet. But in a few minutes,” answered Shane. “Do you guys want a drink?” asked Papi. “Not for me homy,” answered Shane. “I’ll have whatever you guys are having,” answered Bette. “Me too,” answered Tina immediately after Bette. “Okay, well Bette join me at the bar. Shane keep Tina company,” said Papi. “Sure,” said Shane starting a conversation with Tina.

 

At the bar Papi orders the drinks and turns to Bette. “So, what’s up?” asked Papi. Bette turns to Papi and says:”Nothing much.”
“I haven’t seen you much these days.”
“ I’ve been busy,” said Bette not knowing where Papi’s getting at.
“With Tina?” asked Papi, Bette turned to Papi and raised her brows. “What are you saying?”
“Are you together?” asked Papi. “Omg, are you serious?” said Bette not believing that her friend still didn’t believe her. “It’s a very easy question to answer,” Papi pressed on.
“Look, I have been spending much more time with Tina. But that’s because she’s become my friend. Nothing more.”
“Are you sure? Are you trying to convince me or yourself?” asked Papi.
“I can’t believe this, I can’t like her,” said Bette and then sighed looking away. “Why not? What’s wrong with her?”
“Nothing’s wrong with her, it’s just that,” said Bette not wanting to say anything more.
“What? What’s so wrong on wanting her?” asked Papi. She never saw her friend being so weird.
“She deserves someone better, someone who will treat her like she deserves,” said Bette looking at the floor. Papi had never seen her friend so insecure.  “Bette, you are good enough for her. When did you start liking her?”
“I don’t know, last night I was so mad. Because of what Kate did to her,” said Bette truthfully.
“Would you ever do that to Tina?” asked Papi.
“No, of course not. But it doesn’t matter, I’m who I am.”
“And what is that?” asked Papi.
“A couple of nights ago I fucked a girl out back, even though it didn’t mean anything. I have a feeling that is who I am.”
Papi sighed:”That is not who you are Bette, that’s who Shane and I are. You have always been different.” Bette stood up and turned to Papi:”Look, don’t tell Tina anything I told you, for now friends is more than enough. I’m not even sure if this thing is important enough to go after.”
“Later on you will see that it is worth it.”
“Well, then if the day comes you’ll be the first one to know,” said Bette walking back to the table.
