    Chapter 10

    Bette woke up the next morning to the sound of Angelica cooing over the monitor. She glanced at the clock: 5:30 am. Time for another feeding and very likely time for a diaper change. She listened for a moment thinking she would hear Tina attending to Angelica, but the playful baby sounds continued unabated.

     

    She got up and went into the nursery. Tina still wasn’t home. Bette wanted to be angry, but instead she was indifferent. Anger would have implied that she still cared what Tina did, but how they had treated each other over the last six months, indeed over the better part of the last 3 years, had taken its toll.

     

    Besides, there had been nights this week when Bette hadn’t come home and didn’t offer an explanation. It should be no different in this situation. They were separated. Permission to see other people was inherent to that separation.

     

    Just as she finished changing the baby, she heard Tina’s car in the driveway.

     

    "Don’t think you can stay out all night without letting us know where you are young lady," Bette said playfully to her daughter. "Not that you’ll be allowed to leave the house unchaperoned until you’re 18"

     

    She carried the baby into the kitchen and turned on the coffee maker, as she heard the front door open.

     

    "We’re in the kitchen," Bette called out. "And I think she’d rather have the source than a bottle if you’re up to it."

     

    Tina walked in looking rather sheepish.

     

    "Bette, I’m sorry, I fell asleep, I planned on being home last night," Tina apologized as she took the baby from her.

     

    "You smell like men’s cologne," Bette observed. She refilled the reservoir of the coffee maker with water.

     

    Tina was silent.

     

    "It’s not a judgement," Bette said resignedly. "I didn’t expect you to stop sleeping with him once we made our separation official."

     

    Tina was unsure how to respond. She thought Bette would show some kind of emotion when confronted with evidence of her liaison. She untucked her shirt and, after sitting on one of the kitchen chairs, started feeding the baby.

     

    "Ow, ow ow," Tina cringed as she squeezed her eyes shut in pain. "She bit me."

    1. Just as Bette was handing Angelica to Tina, her ‘source’, New Orleans’ mayor Ray Nagin came over my radio saying, “Money is the mother’s milk of redevelopment.” I swear. …. What has this to do with anything? Nothing…back to the story…

    6. “You and me. No longer a fling. You. Are also. Wanted.” Before I saw the (tbc), I thought this might be the end. Thankfully, it isn’t, of course, but good Lord! This was a good chapter! Bette’s reactions and mannerisms are similar, in relation to Tina’s man, on the show, and it makes this story that much more interesting. It would be an interesting twist if, while Bette was nearly orgasming on the phone, practically moaning Helena’s name, Tina had come home early from the walk with Angelica. Hmm? Maybe? A little bit? Regardless, 40 minutes would be nice for the next chapter, but I suppose that’s wishful thinking, though I am glad that this chapter was posted today, as I always am. Great job, JKS; I don’t think it could be said enough. This story is hot!

OK this is the 2nd story ive read today where the phone is being used to make someone or other HOT…lol..im seriously feeling that MY phone isnt being used to its full capability…lol..Ive said it before you really make these 2 work.never in my imagination would i have enjoyed Bette and Helena together and god forgive me im lovin it…ofcourse id love to see Tina back with “The Hot One” but your doing such a great job here …i dont mind waiting…lol

    9. God you write this so well…it pains me when I only get to read 3 pages..this is like a book that you don’t want to put down, I hate taking my time with something good, I want it all and now!!! Yes patience, I’m trying…so thankyou for the post again as I will take whatever I can…I’m thinking that when Tina finds out about Helena there really will be shit hitting the fan..how could it not?? If Tina says that she will always love bette, then that is what will fuel the confrontation…isn’t it the rule about dating someones ex?? off limits?? well maybe not…anyway pls post soon

    11. Geez…I had to read this twice just to try and get the goofy grin on my face to go away….and it didn’t work! It’s still there!! Thank you for letting Bette and Tina have a decent conversation…something that will never happen with IC’s Bette and Tina. We will probably be subjected to watching Moria scrub the livingroom floor, or watch as Jenny writes her next chapter word by word, instead of being allowed to watch a conversation between Bette and Tina that lasts longer than three sentences. (Sorry, I’m done now.) Anyway, thanks for this wonderfully fitting chapter.

    20. I no longer feel guilty about loving this story, considering what I’m working with on screen. I’d still love the idea of a Bette and Tina reunion or maybe a love triangle! I could almost hear Bette delivering that last line “You and me. No longer a fling. You. Are also. Wanted.” Took my breath away…you are a true talent. More Please.

It was lovely to see that Bette and Tina could be civil to one another and were trying to comprehend where it all went wrong. Having Tina challenge Bette about her ‘secret someone’ was priceless. Then to demonstrate just how hot and heavy Bette and Helena can be was delightful. Simply put, I love this story. The dialogue is pitch perfect. You have a wonderful ear for keeping it all so believable. I can’t hardly wait to read the day activities soon. . I hope Bette ate her Wheaties ’cause I suspect that we’ll see the return of table turning Tina once she finds about Bette and Helena…and then I hope Bette makes Tina grovel for reconciliation.
