What Becomes of the Broken: Part 6 for lack of better title

It didn’t help that Jodi had been in Los Angeles for two days now and had neglected to see her or even call her and let her now she had arrived safely. No, Bette had to hear that from Phyllis Kroll. That only spurred Bette on further. She took a sip of her water and cracked her knuckles.

    "Bette, Jodi Lerner is here."

    "Send her in."

    Here goes nothing.

    .
-Hi, Baby. Did you miss me?- Jodi advanced on Bette, pulling her into a hug and then trying for a kiss.

"No. I can’t. We have to talk."

-What’s up? I’ve missed you so much, I’d rather not talk, I’d rather do.-

"Then how come you haven’t called me? You’ve been here for two days…look, I don’t want to argue I just need you to hear me out…"

    -I see more than I hear.-.Jodi grinned,

"Sorry, I fell into that." Bette tussled with a curl that had gone astray, "I don’t think we should see each other anymore."

-Why not? I thought we were having a good time.-

"We were. I’m just not as evolved as you. I have a problem sharing, or being shared. We have two totally different views on life, Jodi. I want a relationship and I don’t know exactly what you want, but it’s not what I had in mind when I found you in New York."

-So, you’re ending this? Just like that?-

"I’m sorry, Jodi. I really am. I really care about you, trust me. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have stolen that sign for you. I wouldn’t have stuck it out for as long as I did. I think I’m falling in love with someone else, Jodi."

-And she can have you when I don’t…-

"Didn’t I just say that I have a problem being shared and so does the woman I’m falling for? I want to make a go at it and if I choose to do so, I can’t be dating you at the same time. I hope one day, we can be amicable."

Jodi didn’t say anything. She placed her hand against Bette’s cheek and rubbed it slowly. She smiled lightly. Bette took this as a sign of Jodi letting her go. Bette touched Jodi’s hand and brought it to her lips. She placed a soft kiss against it and let it go. Jodi left the room and closed the door behind her.

    1. Jodi’s response to the break-up was a bit off; I get the feeling we haven’t heard the last from her. Helena’s roller-coaster emotions in this chapter were a hoot. I want to see on-the-warpath Helena (with that classic Blondie song playing in the background) on my TV! I thought the tarot card reader on the show was referring to Bette, but of course IC dropped the ball. Thanks for picking it up and running with it!

    2. WOW ash what a great chapter, and that song would you belive that I made a video with that same song,,LOL,,,,anyway, I like Jodie and Bette but I know it lacks substance and liked how you had Jodie act, cause IMO she is like that. I really liking how Helena was her old self, that is the Helena I fell for when she first came onto the show. Keep up the good work, cause I see lots of things happening to this couple.
