Chapter 18 – Tina, the indecisive ***** returneth
Two months ago, Tina was shopping for her special night with her life partner. Two months ago Tina had denied her sexual attraction to someone new, someone male and someone who definitely was not Bette.
When she had been caught out that night she had made up an on the spot lie to cover her feelings. Of course nothing had happenedbut it could haveand this time she doubted very much whether she would have been sick. Even though she had told Bette that Henry meant nothing to her, she still could not reconcile her strong attraction for him, and knew that someday soon she would have to do something about it.
‘Maybe I’m turning into a sexaholic,’ she thought to herself. “Hi my name is Tina Kennard, and I’m a ***** addict” she said loudly to the empty room before laughing at the absurdity of it all.
It was true that she didn’t love or care for him at all. In fact that same night when Bette had pulled her disappearing act she had briefly thought that if Henry was to disappear tomorrow she wouldn’t even miss him, however, she thought that she might cease to exist if Bette did.
Now that Bette had decided to ***** off and go on some damn retreat, leaving her alone and to her own devices, Tina felt a little mean. Mean and powerful, in a feline kind of way.
Tina knew of her power over men and now women, but she hadn’t used the men friendly version for a while. She decided that if she were going to be abandoned then she would have a little fun of her own.
After all, she was free, footloose and accountable to no-one, least of all Bette Porter.
By the end of that first week (of enforced abandonment) Tina had already arranged to hang out with Helena and strangely Alice. She was soon to find out that Helena and Alice were real good friends. ‘When did that happen?’ she had pondered briefly when Helena ordered the house special for Alice while Alice smiled warmly in approval as they all sat in the fancy restaurant that Helena had chosen.
“So Helena,” Tina began the conversation while sipping on her non-alcoholic beverage, “How’s Henry doing these days?” In for a penny in for a pound, thought Tina.

ok…first, they are both selfish, and just stubborn. Love isn’t easy, nor is a relationship. Maybe they should go their seperate ways, to find they really do need and love each other. keep on posting.
Geeezz..are you going to kill a baby???..lol..you know im totally against persons be together again cuz pregnancy or cuz the baby is sick..they have to love each other and really want to be together… that is the only way their marriege survive cuz otherwise when things come calm they will find a way to fight and be apart again..Bette need to know she have a wife and a kid..be a mother is a full time job she cant run away when things go tough..your killing me..please FIX this..
ohh and Tina is dumb?? visit sick person with a baby at home? she dosent know flu is a virus?????
I can’t believe this,Tina is a dumbass and so is Bette. They both need to be in therapy and Tina needs to leave thqt man alone. Those two need to start talking to each other quickly, before they lose what they do have for each other. This makes me crazy.
Great story. Both Bette and Tina are acting like idiots. I love that Tina professed caretaker that she is doesn’t know that it wasn’t the smartest move to hang out with someone who has the flu when you have a baby in the house.
I really don’t know who the hell these 2 characters are, bec they are not acting like Tina and Bette, but Whatev! I mean Tina is stupid for exposing her child to the flu and for be so damned indecisive and Bette well, she should just let Tina go if she distrusts her so……tsk tsk tsk,. what the hell are these 2 are going to do?
These two people are complete stranger to me, First Bette goes off on a retreat, and Tina taking care of a sick man,with God only knows what and took germs home to her baby. Some one needs to get their stuff together. So that someone can take care of Angie the way a baby needs to be taken care of. If Bette and Tina are through,Than one needs to leave. thanks

Why, why, why would Tina expose herself to illness when she has a child of tender years at home? Is this a symptom of her loneliness? And why would Bette go traipsing off into the woods to contemplate the trees when she has a family at home? Now there’s hell to pay.
They both need a kick in the knickers!

Wow, a lot of harsh comments on these two; first of all I don’t think Bette is being selfish by going on the retreat, keep in mind what she’s been through: devastating break up, watching her father die, losing a job that defined her, almost losing the love of her life during pregnancy, seeing her sister almost die of breast cancer, having little to no support at home with Tina who wants to “see other people” ie. rejection from the one love that’s supposed to sustain you…she hasn’t grieved, she’s just handled all these things thrown at her; Tina on the other hand doesn’t want Bette, there is something familiar in their relationship, but if she is angry with Bette for leaving deal with that, don’t start inviting the likes of Helena and Henry into your life the minute she’s gone, that’s dishonest and she doesn’t really seem to value her relationship with Bette. If she can’t commit, why bother.
